E220: Romesh Ranganathan: There's A Dark Voice In My Head That I've Learnt To Control
The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett
From a maths teacher and occasional rapper to one of the UK's most popular comedians, you would think this was the setup to one of Romesh Ranganathan's typically deadpan jokes. However, as is the case with most comedians, behind the jokes and laughter lies pain. After bursting onto our screens, Romesh has been constantly working, always afraid that his success could slip out from under him at any moment, stemming from his family struggles as a teenager when his father was sent to prison and life as he knew it fell apart. In this hilarious but also intimate conversation, Romesh discusses the life experiences that have provided him with the endless material for his sold-out shows, but also the challenges that have made him the man he is today.Childhood Your dad’s prison years Were you ashamed of your family? Being a lazy kid What was your opinion of yourself? Dealing with a voice in my head Your comedian journey Your days pre-stand up The loss of your father Your mum's support Becoming a successful comedian Are you happy? Romesh Ranganathan (Episode 93 Rewind!) • Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein #219
Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein
LOOK OUT! It’s only Films To Be Buried With!Join your host Brett Goldstein for a special REWIND edition, as he talks life, death, love and the universe with comic and actor ROMESH RANGANATHAN!A lovely oppportunity to catch up with an episode from the archives, which was a true ray of light in a very difficult time. Of course, times are differently difficult now but this opens a window on a time not far from recent memory, where we were looking for laughter and distraction while also dealing with an unprecedented crisis. Naturally things don't dwell on that part - it's more just for context. Below is the original writeup for the episode - enjoy!!!The memories of an actual face to face encounter now seem so old and faded, it’s hard to even consider such an event. Let alone a live show. Can you even imagine? Well, with things as they are still, Brett has brought the podcast vehicle to your door with facemask and gloved hands once again, with guest in tow, the excellent multi-threat comic Romesh over the internet! Proper good times to be had, conversationally roaming freely with reckless abandon that brings to mind those halcyon days of a couple of months ago, including being a national treasure (Romesh won’t have any of it), his Mum being a breakaway star, the thrill of trying to master stuff (especially in lockdown times), working with the family in the picture and what mayhem or paradise that brings, packing for the afterlife, knockoff Care Bears and a HECK ton more. Such a good one, you’ll thoroughly enjoy. Be excellent to each other folks - shouts and love to you all XROMESH ONLINETWITTERHIP HOP SAVED MY LIFETHE MISADVENTURES OF ROMESH RANGANATHANASIAN PROVOCATEURBRETT GOLDSTEIN on TWITTERBRETT GOLDSTEIN on INSTAGRAMBRETT GOLDSTEIN on PATREONTED LASSOSOULMATESSUPERBOB (Brett's 2015 feature film)CORNERBOYS with BRETT & SCROOBIUS PIPDISTRACTION PIECES NETWORK on FACEBOOKDISTRACTION PIECES NETWORK on INSTAGRAMSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/filmstobeburiedwith. Changes Revisited: Romesh Ranganathan and Katie Price
Changes with Annie Macmanus
This week we are revisiting highlights from two very prominent people in British Media - Romesh Ranganathan and Katie Price.Romesh is one of the UK’s most successful comedians but as you will hear in this conversation he experienced seismic changes in his life before he became famous. His whole world was turned upside down as a child when within the space of six months, his house was repossessed, he changed schools, his mum found out his dad was having an affair and his dad went to prison! Here we revisit him telling us about his childhood and relationship with his Dad after these events. Katie Price, best known as a glamour model ‘Jordan’ has had a rollercoaster of a life, so this episode in March 2021 was the same. She discussed her early days and fame, her relationships (she’s been married 3 times), her five children, online abuse and feeling more herself. But here we revisit Katie telling us about her mental health, what was then her recent stay in the Priory and her relationship with the press. Retro RHLSTP 46 - Romesh Ranganathan
RHLSTP with Richard Herring
RETRO RHLSTP #46 Romesh Ranganathan - Richard has a controversial theory about the recent FIFA controversy and gets paid by a man to call him a fucking idiot to his face before introducing former maths teacher and toilet crier Romesh Ranganathan to the stage of Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre. In possibly the longest RHLSTP they discuss the problems of trying to procure adequate vegan cheese, cost analysis of airline food, whether a lazy eye is really a trademark and what it would take to get Romesh to have a tattoo of Richard on his arm. Find out how you can break your penis and what to do if you then get some jalfrezi on it. Ramesh also has to answer the cash for questions that Richard forgot to ask Emma Kennedy. It goes on for a very long time and a lot of it is about babies, but remember you can stop listening any time you like, unlike the poor captives in the theatre.SUPPORT THE SHOW!Check out our website http://rhlstp.co.ukSee details of the RHLSTP tour dates http://richardherring.com/gigsBuy DVDs and Books at http://gofasterstripe.com Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp.
