SPECIAL REPORT #20: Shelter en Place Theater presents a review of Jon Favreau's "Chef" with guest critics Allison & Matt Robicelli

It's been six years since Jon Favreau's movie Chef debuted. In our relatively new, ongoing, and perhaps ill-fated search for the great live-action chef movie, Andrew joins forces with Allison and Matt Robicelli to revisit this food truck road movie and evaluate its depiction of the pro-cooking trade. How realistic is the protagonist's kitchen life? His relationship with restaurant owner Dustin Hoffman? HIs sous chef and line cook? His son? And, most importantly ... Twitter? In our second of what's shaping up as a weekly Shelter en Place Theater review, we ask these questions and more to end another week of coronavirus-resulting lockdown

**Warning: This episode is rife with spoilers. Please watch Chef before listening!**

Our great thanks to S.Pellegrino for making these special reports possible.

Episode 69: Jaya Sundaresh v. Jon Favreau

Play
Read more

It's episode 69 (nice), so you know what that means: it's one life cycle of the podcast, as Jaya Sundaresh (journalist, Jaya Time) brings it all back to where we started, by getting blocked by Pod Save America dweeb Jon Favreau. Like many before her, Jaya gained a following by dunking on him repeatedly, and we're all too happy to set her up for the alley-oop. You may think that's a cheap sports metaphor, but it's apt, as we hear from a listener who got blocked by OJ Simpson, and we only talk about the virus a little bit, as Stefan reveals his new plan for content in the wake of self-isolation, and John shares what he thinks is the best tweet of the corona saga so far.

I don't even need a fun tagline this week, because you're indoors and you need some content! Well, we have a whole lot. Only $5/month gets you access to our ENTIRE back catalogue, for those moments when you want to avoid getting sick in public by making yourself sick at home listening to us idiots. We will also have THREE new bonus episodes this month including this week, as we do another Word Up! Cameo episode with a new feature: we can see people's instructions for the celebs. It gets wild, and fan fave Christine Bortolin joins us to break it all down. Plus, that $5 gets you access to our Discord, the best darn community on the internet. So join us, we have lots of fun stuff waiting for you as we ride the 'Rona together.

The Gettable Voter with Jon Favreau

Democrats can beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Another four years of a Trump White House is not a foregone conclusion. With nine months to go before the general election, there’s a tremendous amount of fear and uncertainty hanging over many of us about the future of the American republic. Amidst this fear, Democratic voters are deciding which candidate is best suited to run against the President. But a lot of the fights over who that person could be are actually fights over how to build a coalition of voters big enough to beat Donald Trump in the electoral college. In envisioning how to build that coalition, you have to look at the margins. If the solid-blue, never-Trump contingency make up the reliable core of the voting bloc, then the folks on the margins are key to solving the puzzle of 2020. Former Obama speechwriter and Crooked Media co-founder Jon Favreau spent time talking with members of this crucial group in four battleground states for the second season of his podcast, "The Wilderness". He joins to discuss what a winning coalition could look like.
