Understanding the Power of Organic Content with Calvin Wayman, CEO of Cobbes Media | The Ask Avi Arya Show
The Ask Avi Arya Show | Online Business & Digital Marketing podcast.
Hello everyone, in this latest podcast I am interviewing Calvin Wayman who has a story that can motivate you strong enough to start your positive transformation journey. Calvin Wayman is a regular guy (also known on social media by Curious with Calvin Wayman) turned author, entrepreneur, and a Millionaire Case Study—where he’s documenting the first story from zero to millionaire “as it’s happening!” He’s known for not hiding the struggle we all go through as human beings, but sharing it openly—inspiring others that they are more capable than they can imagine. He doesn't do Facebook ads, he creates his own organic content that gives people a story and is extremely necessary for any page. Calvin says that things can't be done fast you need patience. But he did share one of his ways, which is called a Pucathon - a process where you sit for 48 hours without your cellphone and just curate your ideas. He wrote his book 'Fish Out of Water' within a month and a half with this process. “The Miracle isn’t that I finished. The Miracle is that I had the courage to start.” - Calvin Wayman (author, keynote speaker, founder, and CEO of Cobbes Media) What do you do when you feel discouraged? Discover the above answer and many more secrets that help you in positive transformation and overcome stress. Listen to the podcast now. ABOUT ME Hi, I am Avi Arya, father of 2 girls, 6 dogs, husband to a superwoman, a streetcar racer turned hotelier now a social media marketer, a TedX speaker, a corporate trainer, business coach, met many great influencers around the world like Gary Vee, Dan Lok, Billy Gene, Grant Cardone and founded Internet Moguls (a 225 member company working for over 700 hotels across 10 countries).
Calvin Wayman is back for part two of our conversation. In this episode we talk about our journeys as entrepreneurs and more specifically how those journeys began. We talked about cultivating the trust to step out in faith, let go of the things not serving us, and be open to receiving not necessarily what we think we want, but the opportunities that God provides for us. Calvin is an author, trier, and self-proclaimed messer-upper. He was born into an unconventional family - one that celebrates the practice of polygamy. He has 5 loving parents—one dad, and four moms. He also has 44 best friends—all of them his siblings. His upbringing gifted him life lessons like: working hard, working together, and going after what you really believe in! While he chose not to continue the path of his parents, he is using what they taught him to blaze his own trail. Today he’s a high-ticket sales entrepreneur—helping podcasters, coaches, and entrepreneurs monetize and scale through the power of a high-ticket offer. He is writing his second book, “How to Sell Like a Shark Without Being a Dick (Richard).” He is a TEDx Speaker being asked to speak all around the world and the host of the “Curious With Calvin Wayman” podcast. Calvin is also a dad, committed to being an example to his two kids that it’s okay to try things and get messy. And, despite fear, you really can create the life of your dreams. Ep 841: Calvin Wayman: The Short-Term vs the Long-Term for Lasting Success
Ten Minute Mindset
Calvin Wayman is an author, trier, and self-proclaimed messer-upper. He joined me on the podcast to talk about our mutual love for breakfast foods and how it is a perfect analogy for short-term vs the long-term when it comes to decision making and actions for lasting success. Ep 783: Cooking & Conversation with Calvin Wayman | Bacon, Eggs, and Hash Browns
Ten Minute Mindset
Calvin Wayman joined me to prepare his all-time favorite meal on Cooking & Conversation: Breakfast! Calvin showed us how he has mastered making bacon, eggs, and hash browns and we also talk professional speaking, sales, and more! Watch the recorded live stream on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Calvin is 1 of 45 kids in his immediate family. (Yes, you heard that right—he has 44 siblings!) He grew up on family farm in a religion that still celebrates the practice of polygamy. In 2015 at 27 years old, he took the plunge to leave everything he ever knew to pursue the life he had always dreamed of. He started selling door-to-door, facing adversity and rejection that would help mold him. As rocky as his story has been, he’s been documenting the entire journey on social media to help others on their own path. Some of the things he’s done are incredible: He went from being an employee to building his own business He went from $53k in debt and documented his journey to becoming becoming debt free He went from never even running a marathon before to running a 50 mile ultra marathon He was overweight and lost over 50 pounds He had dreamed of one day speaking on stage with some of his mentors, and he’s since shared the stage with people like: Brendon Burchard, Lewis Howes, Mel Robbins, Jay Shetty, and Tom Bilyeu) Today, he’s a proud papa and successful entrepreneur. He’s an international TEDx Speaker, and the best-selling author of Fish Out of Water. He’s the host of a podcast carrying his name, and he stars in the YouTube show Making The Millionaire: a vlog where he’s documenting his story from $53,000 in debt, to his first one million dollars. He’s been featured in 100s of magazine, television, radio, and podcast shows—including Entrepreneur Magazine, and the Dave Ramsey Show. He’s involved in multiple ventures including acting as the founder of CobbesMedia--a social media agency designed to help purpose driven entrepreneurs impact on the world. Simply put, this guy’s story shows that it doesn’t matter what everyone around you--including the negative voices in your head--tell you about what you can and cannot do. And despite the adversity you’ll face along the way, you have the power of creating the life of your dreams. How to Cultivate Your Inner Author Coach Serial Entrepreneur Millionaire Status The Calvin Wayman way!
The How-to Entrepreneur
Calvin Wayman is an extraordinary example of what taking the plunge can do to change your life! Calvin was working the 9-5 one day and taking on the entrepreneurial warpath lifestyle the next. Calvin Wayman is a “regular dude” with a not-so-regular backstory, turned author, podcaster, TEDx Speaker, and serial entrepreneur. In 2015, he quit his day job to pursue his dream of working for himself. The journey was anything but spectacular. Many times, Calvin Wayman had no idea what he was doing and fell flat on his face. But, through trial and error, he ended up building his first six figure business online, and ticked several dreams off his bucket list.
He is the author of Fish Our of Water, a mastermind facilitator, podcast host, and successful entrepreneur, but Calvin Wayman openly admits that it has not always been easy and even he struggles with mental health issues. I reached out to Calvin after being so moved by some of his raw and vulnerable posts on social media about his mental health journey. He authentically shares with his audience both on social platforms and on his podcast, Curious with Calvin Wayman, about his mental health journey and even about the suicidal thoughts that he has struggled with. Calvin openly shares with us about growing up in fundamental Mormonism and how leaving his religion as a grown man has impacted him on a very deep level. We dig into both religion’s impact on mental health and also its impact on personal relationships. Calvin shares with us about how his upbringing felt like an “invisible leash” and how he found the courage to tune into his own intuition and make decisions that were more authentic to him. We also dig into the mental health struggles of an entrepreneur and why it is so important to share your journey with others and not be bound by the stigma around mental illness. Calvin even asks me some powerful questions about my own healing journey and what it looks like to not only forgive others but to forgive yourself. This is a fantastic episode for those who may feel like they may have suppressed wounds from their past that are keeping them back from healing. Calvin shares very practical tips that anyone can learn from despite where they are at. 365: Topic | From Zero to Hero with Calvin Wayman, Annette Raynor, Edwin
Build Your Network
Calvin Wayman, author of Fish Out of Water, Annette Raynor, co-founder of Wealth Engineering LLC, and Edwin Arroyave, CEO of Skyline Security Management Incorporated, share with your host, Travis Chappell, their thoughts on "connecting with legends." Episode Highlights: Calvin Wayman Masterminds have been the fastest shortcut to his success in business and networking. Annette Raynor Annette started her career in 1983 with Xerox Corporation in emerging technologies. As a female in the technology field in 1983, she was in a male dominated field. She worked with the Palo Alto research center of Xerox to help the scientists there bring the technologies they were creating to the salesforce. This experience was invaluable in applying technology. She supported fortune 50 companies in solving their largest technology problems. The adoption of technology in the financial sector was practically non-existent. Applying the power of technology to the financial sector to support the common individual is totally overlooked. Her career was filled with great success and great loss that led her to her passion. She created Wealth Generators to share her experience with other entrepreneurs. Edwin Arroyave More excited now than when he first started the company in 1999. The first 10 years he wasn’t sold on the security sales industry, he did it because the money was great. Early on they started doing 200-250 accounts a month, he trained one guy at a time. He started investing back into the organization and brought in a CFO. He then went from six office employees to 50. He then left the field and focused on the operations. Made less money for a few years. Then they started growing. Even though he took himself out of the field, he’s still very involved with the sales guys. He’s an accessible owner and likes to be well-informed. His investment in his company forced him to be committed to the organization. Keep yourself accountable by forcing yourself to take action on a bigger level. Tweetable Quotes: “Mastermind relationships compound and benefit you year over year."- Calvin Wayman "The most important things in life are really not associated with the actual money. It's a resource. It's the satisfaction and application of the resource toward things that create a better environment for people." – Annette Raynor "Results give you the confidence." – Edwin Arroyave Resources Mentioned: Visit Travis’ website at http://www.buildyournetwork.co/ (Buildyournetwork.co) Learn more about mentorships and masterminds for FREE at http://www.freemmcourse.com/join (freemmcourse.com/enroll) Download the Himalaya App in the https://apps.apple.com/us/app/podcast-audio-player-himalaya/id1275493456 (App Store) or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ximalaya.ting.himalaya&hl=en_US (Google Play) Get more free content from Travis at http://threenetworkingsecrets.com/ (threenetworkingsecrets.com) For information regarding your data privacy, visit https://www.acast.com/privacy (acast.com/privacy)Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
