Ep 48: The money relationships we inherit with Johanna Lynn
Money Career & Motherhood Podcast
Does life ever feel like a little bit of history repeating itself? So often we see similar challenges in money, relationships and other family issues continue from one generation to the next. Many people go through their entire lives without recognizing the deeper issues fueling their money challenges. According to my guest Johanna Lynn, your family lives on within you, think of it as your emotional inheritance. We talk about how this emotional inheritance can impact your relationship with money, and what we can do to release past events to develop a healthier future for ourselves and our children. About the Guest: Johanna Lynn is fascinated by what parents share with their children, the invisible stuff passed along in our very DNA. Her superpower is listening like a detective to the facts of a client’s family history, the words they use to describe their challenges lead to begin to work offering up freedom, insight and new perspectives. Our earliest experiences, while we don’t consciously remember them, have a profound influence on how we live our lives. Johanna works with what the body remembers and the knowledge that we are more than our own individual experiences. Ep. 44 - How much of you is really you? Interview Johanna Lynn
Do you have a feeling that your actions don’t belong to you because they make no sense when you look at the evidence of your life but still, you keep experiencing them over and over again? This is exactly what the fascinating field of Epigenetics explores. In this compelling interview, Johanna Lynn, Canadian, founder of The Family Imprint Institute, explains what seems unexplainable. She gives us clear and simple examples of how to investigate our family history in ways that lead us toward healing. “Epigenetics helps you get closer to the clarity of what’s right for you” instead of repeating patterns that don’t fit in your life and dreams. These include emotions, behavior, thoughts, and even diseases. One of the most interesting ideas she shared was what she calls the “myth of forgiveness.” Johanna believes that many times, forgiveness falls flat and doesn’t help with finding a resolution. This certainly resonated with me but I had never found the right language to explain why forgiving someone seemed to not be enough sometimes. It may make no sense to you, but then again, this is what this podcast is all about: to provide different perspectives so that we can expand our views on human behavior. Kids Are Grown, NOW WHAT?
Are you beginning to feel the squeeze of the sandwich generation? We may be helping our kids find their feet to venture out into the world while just beginning to be tugged in the other direction with our parents needing our help too. We are still bringing up our own kids while taking on the care of our parents. In this wonderful interview with Johanna Lynn, we discuss how to have difficult conversations with our parents. In some situations, it’s hard to know how to ask questions to our parents while not insulting them or making them feel like they are now the child and you are now their parent.
