Into the Wee Hours Podcast

Episode Seven. Luke Pryor, Ultra Distance Trail Runner, Clinical & Performance Pyschologist, FKT Challenger & Tiny Home Dweller.  This episode is a really interesting catch up with Luke Pryor, talking all things endurance, psychology and running as a metaphor for life.  Luke shares his origin story with us and we find out how he came from a childhood on an 100 acre farm in Victoria to now, living in a newly built “tiny home” in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. As a Clinical and Performance Psychologist, Luke sheds light on some fundamentals of Performance Psychology and their application for athletes and adventurers alike, including the practices of Mindfulness, Gratitude and Compassion. Luke also shares his plans to set a Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the 210km Goldfields Track and we dig into the “why” of these enormous endurance challenges.  Unfortunately we were again hit by some distracting popping in the background of the audio and we hope you persevere and listen to this, as Luke shares some really valuable insights.  He references the book “Self Compassion” by Kristin Neff.

A Psychologist's guide to life and running with Luke Pryor.

THE MIND FULL MEDIC PODCAST

In episode 11 Season 2 I'm delighted to welcome Luke Pryor BPsych (Hons) MPsych (Clin), MAPS.  Luke is a clinical psychologist based  in Queensland.  He is also an impressive ultra runner.      Luke has a background in human movement, sports and exercise science and has worked with elite and recreational athletes and teams.  He found himself increasingly drawn to the mental aspects of performance which led him to undertake extensive further training leading to a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2012.  Over the past decade Luke has worked in public and private practice and has experience in several areas including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and sports psychology and performance.  Luke uses evidence-based therapies including cognitive behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing and has particular interests in compassion focused therapy and mindfulness, which we discuss here.       His professional background and interests make him very well placed to work with runners, athletes and individuals aiming to get and stay active, providing assistance with the mental and psychological aspects of the their sport, health, and exercise and performance. Most recently Luke and his partner Kara Landells, who is strength and conditioning coach, have combined expertise and their passions for trail running hosting Resilient Runner Retreats.                 In this conversation Luke takes us on his professional journey to date.  He describes the challenges of working as a mental health clinician through a global pandemic, a time when our collective stress and anxiety has increased and his services have never been more in demand.  Luke discusses the practises, tools and advice he has prioritised for his clients and patients through this period.  We explores self-compassion and mindfulness based strategies and a practical approach to self-care in challenging times.           In the second half of the conversation we discuss Luke's why, where and what of running and explore the mental aspects of running and sporting performance.  Luke uses running as a metaphor for life and we visit topics including motivation, self-awareness, identity, purpose and authenticity.  It is perhaps no surprise that runners attending the resilient runner retreats come away feeling they have explored much more than their sport.   I throughly enjoyed our conversation and am looking forward to attending a future weekend!Find our more about  about Luke Pryor :https://www.linkedin.com/in/luke-pryor-48b28176/https://www.instagram.com/littlemadrunner/Resilient Runner Retreats:https://linktr.ee/pryorl/Other Links discussed here :  Mindful Self-compassion Kristen Neffhttps://self-compassion.orghttps://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/resilience-project-from-page-to-podcast-to-home-school/id1513559414?i=1000513818626Dr Sophia Shih's Bruny Island Tiny Home:read an article about this idyllic escape with air bnb and video tour link noted at the end.Disclaimer: The content in this podcast is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Episode 5: Nutritional Balancing With Luke Pryor

Intuitive Behavior

Nutritional Balancing is a scientific approach to correcting the body at a very deep level. The main test we use to gauge the body is a Hair Mineral Analysis test. This test tells us the mineral levels present in the outside tissues of the body. Using these mineral levels, and ratios between the levels, we can see exactly what mineral/vitamins the body needs and in what dosages. As the body heal, we retest the levels and adjust the program accordingly. Overtime, an amazing restoration happens as the bodies chemistry is re-balanced layer by layer.

Heal Your Thyroid with Nutritional Balancing with Luke Pryor

Myers Detox Podcast

This is thyroid week! So, I thought I'd replay this classic Live to 110 podcast about the thyroid. Luke Pryor, a fellow Nutritional Balancing practitioner, talks to me this week about how a Nutritional Balancing program can heal your thyroid naturally and get you off your medication for good. Transcript Click here to view the full transcript for #58 Heal Your Thyroid with Nutritional Balancing with Luke Pryor.   Most are told by their doctor that they have to be on thyroid medication for life. This could not be further from the truth. While modern medicine is great, it's not a healing modality. Doctors don't think in terms of healing the thyroid, just in giving medication to replace hormones and relieving symptoms, but even this does not work for many people. Luke Pryor is going to tell you how you can heal your thyroid, be the problem lack of hormone production, autoimmune thyroid issues like Hashimoto's or other issues related to thyroid dysfunction. I hear about all kinds of shows on the thyroid talking about how you need to take natural hormones instead of synthetic ones or you need to add T3 for some people – like they're talking about some revolutionary thyroid cure. That's great, but it's just not enough. Why isn't anyone talking about HEALING the thyroid? It needs to be nourished and detoxed to function properly. Many people, like myself, are producing plenty of hormones. I don't need hormone replacement. I don't have autoimmune thyroid disease, called Hashimoto's. Yet my thyroid function is low and I have hypothyroid symptoms. Doctors can do nothing for me. People like me they just send home and say, "Good luck. Eat less, exercise more." Don't take being sent home and told you're fine! If you feel something is not right in your body, it's not right. I don't care what tests say. You don't have to suffer any more! You CAN heal your thyroid and get it working on its own with a Nutritional Balancing Program. About Luke Pryor Interbalance.net was founded by Luke Pryor in 2013. He created this business with one goal in mind, to provide easy access to Nutritional Balancing programs for people around the world. Nutritional balancing is a holistic method developed by a brilliant researcher by the name of Dr. Eck during the 70′s and 80′s. This brilliant, man developed a method of using hair mineral analysis to provide a snapshot of the bodily system. Using this method he learned it was possible to balance the human body's biochemistry and in doing so alleviate almost any symptom imaginable. These methods were then further developed by Dr. Lawrence Wilson, who added to the programs, and further refined the techniques to make the system even more effective. Now we have a low cost, easy to follow program for anyone wishing to embark on their journey towards health.
