More Than I Can Bear with Gerald Davis

Memories With A Beat

Growing up in Texas, Gerald Davis was mentored by THE Kirk Franklin.  Gerald connected early in life with the song "More Than I Can Bear."  He was very surprised to find out that it was by Kirk Franklin, this man that he knew and looked up to!  Gerald's life experiences have kept him coming back to this song.  He is also a song writer and singer himself...big surprise given his mentor!  I can't help but to mention how much I enjoyed this interview simply because of Gerald's humor he brought to the conversation! Crossing the Racial Divide | Erwin McManus with Chris Simmons and Gerald Davis

Mosaic - Erwin McManus

Pastor Erwin hosted a powerful conversation on how we can be a part of the solution to racial inequality with Chris Simmons and Gerald Davis. Chris and Gerald are pastors at Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Church Pastor Erwin founded previous to Mosaic. Chris Simmons started the conversation by emphasizing the importance of building strong foundations as a Church. When foundations are built well, the building goes up easily. They discussed the practical ways Cornerstone Baptist Church has met the needs of their community over the years. Pastor Erwin shared that he saw how systemic racism caused those who needed the most help to have to work the hardest and pay the most for high-quality food, education, and housing. Pastor Erwin explained that he would pray that God would give him the ability to speak at the Cornerstone Church and give high-quality teaching. He felt this was his role in contributing quality to an environment that was at times given the lowest quality of many things. Pastor Erwin explained that moving forward, people in power have to chose to diversify their leadership. “People don’t really care how much you know until they know how much you care.” -Chris Simmons — “Crossing the Racial Divide” message recorded on July 22, 2020 during Team Night on MOSAIC:ONLINE. #43 Keep Everything Clean, Including Your Cell - Gerald Davis, Vision Janitorial Service

felony inc podcast

Not having enough food in the house growing up was a tough start for Gerald Davis. This lack of sustenance made him love to go to his grandmother's house, because he got fed, and along the way, she taught him that cleanliness really WAS next to godliness. Gerald was a football player good enough to earn a college scholarship, but a pregnant girlfriend took him off the rails and started him down a bad path. Making lots of money selling crack was too much to pass up and led him to a prison sentence. On release, the memories of his grandmother's teachings stayed with him. Gerald applied for a KIVA (10% of the Startup Radio Network's profits go to this same organization!) loan and received $3,000 to go toward the founding of Vision Janitorial Services, a minority-owned, startup cleaning service serving businesses in Fort Worth.Felony Inc Podcast with your hosts Dave Dahl and Ladd JustesenWe record the Felony Inc Podcast inside NedSpace in the Bigfoot Podcast Studio in beautiful downtown Portland.Audio engineer, mixer and podcast editor is Allon BeausoleilShow logo was designed by Carolyn MainWebsite was designed by Cameron GrimesProduction assistant is Chelsea LancasterTheme music "Free" written and recorded by Dave Dahl, all rights reserved, motherfuckersThis weeks podcast brought to you in part by soap-on-a-rope, when you don't want to drop stuffFelony Inc Podcast supports City Central Concern at centralcityconcern.org10% of gross revenue at Startup Radio Network goes to support women entrepreneurs in developing countries thru kiva.org/lender/markgrimesListen to the Felony Inc Podcast live on-air every Friday at 10:00am pacific time on Startup Radio Network at startupradionetwork.com

'LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD' - A sermon by Rev. Gerald Davis

All Souls Unitarian Church

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Gerald Davis, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION Author and professor Cornell West often reminds us that justice is just love in public. I believe love in public, unfortunately, requires struggle – from Seneca Falls to Selma and Stonewall. To reference President Obama, we have witnessed how struggle can lead to justice. Conflict, therefore, is not always a bad thing. Come ride with me on this freedom train onto the battlefield.   SUBSCRIBE TO AUDIO PODCAST: WATCH THIS SERMON ON YOUTUBE: SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: GIVE A DONATION TO HELP US SPREAD THIS LOVE BEYOND BELIEF: or text LOVEBB to 41444 LET'S CONNECT: Facebook: Twitter: All Souls Church Website:
