Lewis Howes - On Success, Winning & Living Your Greatest Life

Hear Me Raw

Welcome to our first episode of Hear Me Raw with an actual guest, I’m so delighted to have the amazing Lewis Howes join to kick off the show. Quick preliminary note - I mentioned the perfectly imperfect beginnings of this podcast (and all great projects), so please do bear with us through these first few episodes which were, thanks to COVID19, recorded on Zoom before I was able to go anywhere to buy a microphone! So, the audio is a little scratchy, but the content is still banging! In a few episodes’ time, I upgrade to a mic so the audio, like my own journey as podcaster, will only get better and better…
ANYWAY, back to our guest, Lewis Howes is a New York Times Bestselling author, lifestyle entrepreneur, high performance business coach and keynote speaker, a former professional football player and now host of The School of Greatness podcast, which has over 250 million downloads and over 900 episodes since it launched in 2013. Lewis and I first connected that same year when he invited me onto his podcast. We’ve regularly connected since and it has been incredible to witness his meteoric rise. Lewis was recognised by The White House and President Obama as one of the top 100 entrepreneurs in the US under 30.
But before Lewis became a media sensation for empowering people and sharing 'Greatness' across the globe, he had his share of obstacles to overcome. From having a learning disability, which led to being alone and bullied in school, to being sexually abused as a child, to being injured and broke on his sister’s couch, Lewis’s story is the perfect example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles in their life and achieve greatness. And we did deep into where he was and where he is now and how he bridged the gap in between. This episode of Hear me RAW has so many incredible takeaways for anyone wanting to get out there and do something great. We talk about:
· Breaking free of your story and patterns· We explore different ways of learning· We explore success, winning, self worth and greatness· What happens when your identity crumbles· Hacks to just getting started· The power of relationships· His why – how to impact 100 million people a week· Why we need to be flexible with our rituals and routines· The importance of mentors and coaches
This is an absolutely power packed episode so let's get started.

In honor of Dr. Hyman’s upcoming book, Food Fix (, out on February 25th we are sharing a recent interview he did on The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes.

Build Your Health to Build Your Wealth with Dr. Mark Hyman

Wealth without health isn't wealth at all.

Let's say you're the richest person in the world. You have anything and everything you could ever want. You've started companies, written books, gone on tours—you name it. But your body isn't in the best shape. You've put it second to your career goals. And now, it's starting to show.

Your health is a different kind of wealth. Taking care of your finances is important, but so is taking care of your body. If you neglect your body, your body will neglect you. As you age, this only gets harder. You won't be able to enjoy life because you'll feel tired, sick, or miserable.

Of course, exercise is vital to maintaining good health, but so are the foods that you eat. The food we eat has an impact on our brain chemistry, our physical health, our community, and even climate change!

It's easy to eat the processed food that's offered to us daily, but if we want to start investing in our health, it's time for a change.

If there's one person who knows how to help, it's Dr. Mark Hyman.

Dr. Mark Hyman is leading a health revolution—one revolved around using food as medicine to support longevity, energy, mental clarity, happiness, and so much more.

Dr. Hyman is a practicing family physician and an internationally recognized leader, speaker, educator, and advocate in the field of Functional Medicine. He's the founder and director of The UltraWellness Center, is the Head of Strategy and Innovation of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, AND is the Board President for Clinical Affairs for The Institute for Functional Medicine.

And somehow, in the midst of all this, he's a twelve-time New York Times bestselling author and hosts one of the leading health podcasts, The Doctor's Farmacy. He's also a regular medical contributor on several television shows and networks, including CBS This Morning, the Today Show, Good Morning America, The View, The Dr. Oz Show, and CNN.

Needless to say, he's an expert. Dr. Hyman is one of my favorite people to learn from about health because he is so honest about what’s going on. Instead of trying to push his own agenda, he’s got humanity’s best interest at heart.

If you're wanting to invest in your health, look no further! Join me on Episode 916 with Dr. Mark Hyman to learn how eating the right foods can make you healthier and happier.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • How many people in the U.S. are actually sick (4:28)
  • The truth about what diabetes is and what causes it (9:55)
  • The history of processed food and what it does to the environment (14:50)
  • How much food we waste annually (19:48)
  • Why the FDA doesn’t regulate food the way other countries do (21:32)
  • How the food industry convinces people bad food is safe (26:22)
  • Why nut milks can be problematic (47:58)
  • Plus much more…
