Learn more at https://wqa.org.This week's special guest is Amanda Moore, vice president at Atlantic Filter Corporation in West Palm Beach, Florida, and vice president of WQA. We discuss how she grew up in the water treatment industry, moving into management at Atlantic Filter, her work with the Florida WQA, and now her role on the WQA Board of Governors. She also shares why this year’s Mid-Year Leadership Conference is so helpful to members. “You’re guaranteed to walk out of there with relationships that you never could have created in another space and even on a convention floor,” said Moore on the podcast. “You’re likely to walk out, and I know that I have, with one if not a half dozen mentors in this industry.” Later, we’ll have our Motivational Minute, and our WQA Tip.Learn more about the Mid-Year Leadership Conference at https://wqa.org/mylc.

Fight Club: "Soap" with Amanda Moore

1999: The Podcast

Fight Club may well have been 1999's most important box office bomb. With a budget of $65 million, the film barely made back half that at the domestic box office, and barely cleared $100 million worldwide.Yet it remains one of the cult classics of the 1990s, and people often remember it being a lot more successful than it was. A lot of that has to do with the format that would define film in the pre-streaming era of the late 90s and early 00s: DVD.Its themes of toxic masculinity, cultural decay, overbearing capitalism, fascism, and how all those things are expressed in violence seem particularly relevant today. And so this week, John and Joey invited Amanda Moore (aka Frank) - who spent a year infiltrating the world of the alt-right and neo-Nazis and has spent her time since exposing them and writing about her experience - to talk about her love of the film and how well it reflects what is happening beneath the surface of American culture today. You can find Amanda on Twitter @noturtlesoup17 and on TikTok at noturtlesoup17

The MAGA Infiltrator, Feat. Amanda Moore

Fever Dreams

When Amanda Moore lost her job, she decided to go undercover in MAGA land, attending QAnon events and CPAC, hanging with Neo-Nazis and “blood-and-soil fascists,” and palling around with Proud Boys at Harry's Bar in the lead-up to the January 6 Capitol Riot. But what her new compatriots didn’t know was that she was often recording them, and the result is a chilling portrait “of what the right looks like from the inside.” Elsewhere on the podcast, co-hosts Will Sommer and Asawin Suebsaeng discuss the results of a Texas election audit that “Republican officials were trying to bury”—namely because “they found basically nothing wrong with the results”—and dissect an increasingly bitter feud between two audit-fanatics that has descended into potty-mouthed doxxing. Sommer recounts his firsthand experience of being at the Capitol during the riot a year ago, and the hosts dissect the newest catchphrase to devour the far-right and the latest chaos roiling the ultra-alpha manosphere.
