In this Episode we introduce the delightful and talented Kristyn Harris, who is a remarkable Western Swing singer at a very young age. From national television to the Free Range Texan Podcast, she has been a hit wherever she goes. And then we wind up at Michael Shawn’s Campfire with a remarkable Civil War era tale that as usual ends with a twist.
In this week's episode, we're featuring an energetic western swing outing from young Texan Kristyn Harris, "Down The Trail" (2015). Based in the Lone Star State, but taking bookings from coast to coast and even further afield - Kristyn Harris' brand of western and western swing music is infectious. Throw in some artful yodelling, a big smile you can hear when she sings and a healthy respect for tradition and you can understand her popularity. A student of those western and western swing singers and musicians that came before, as well as lending her own pen to multiple numbers, "Down The Trail" is a winner from front to back. Highlights include her own "Acres Of Nowhere", a breathless cover of "I've Been Everywhere (In Texas)" and the rollicking "Thank Heavens For Dale Evans". This week's episode also features two live tracks and interview audio from Kristyn, who was kind enough to donate a few minutes of her time to have a chat with us before the Pro Cowboy Country Music Awards in 2018. Keep an eye on this one, she's going places.

Riding The Trail With Kristyn Harris On ITNS Radio!!!
Texas-bred musical powerhouse, KRISTYN HARRIS, is noted for her shimmering vocals, solid swing rhythm guitar style, unique songwriting, award winning yodel, and captivating stage presence. At 21 years, she is a 2-time recipient of the Western Music Association Female Performer of the Year, (2014, 2015) and is the youngest in history to receive this award. She was also named 2013 Academy of Western Artists Female Vocalist of the Year. Her singing has been praised as "timeless" with "the warmth and power of Texas sunshine". Kristyn, though not raised in a musical household, began playing and singing at age 14 when she felt strongly inspired to pick up a guitar - and it has rarely left her hands since. Finding an instant (and enduring) passion, she launched into a headlong pursuit of music, especially attracted to the swing chordsmanship, alluring melodies, ranching themes and vintage arrangements that cornerstone western swing and cowboy music (later, throwing in bits of country, 1940s big band, gypsy jazz, and traditional folk song influences to her music, and building a gospel repertoire). Somewhere along the way it became her career path.
