today we talk about two Minnesota specific stories: Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx, who took a year off during the height of her career to help with prison reform, and eventually helped free Jonathan Irons, who'd been put for 50 years at the age 16 for a crime he didn't commit. Malik Beasley of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who was arrested at his own home after his address was accidentally put on a home walk list and he went on to his lawn with a gun to see why people kept coming into his driveway
I start this episode of with a story that made it's rounds on sports media outlets. As a husband and his wife started what seemed to be a calm moment turned chaotic as a bobcat attacked his wife. But what the husband did was amazing. Also Dewayne Wade and a group he has partnered with has a stake in the ownership of the Utah Jazz. Then we take a look back at Kobe Bryant's last game and what he meant to LA and his unending love for LA. Also a dive into what made Maya Moore give it all up for the freedom of one man. Then I take a look at the WNBA draft and the team grades before ending on some controversy over a jersey.--- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/appSupport this podcast: https://anchor.fm/anthony-smith34/support

WNBA Star Maya Moore: From Prison Reform To Marriage
In 2019, at the peak of her career, Moore decided to leave the WNBA to focus on freeing Jonathon Irons. At the age of 16, Irons was sentenced to 50 years in a Missouri state prison burglary and assault. He wasn't eligible for parole for another 20 years. Taking on this task would come with no guarantees of success. In March, Irons and Moore received their long-awaited breakthrough. A Missouri judge vacated Irons' 1998 conviction. And after a string of failed appeals and the Supreme Court refusing to take the case, the lead prosecutor in St. Charles County, Missouri, declined a retrial for Irons.A few months later, Moore and Iron secretly wed...Did Maya marry down, or is this just a fantastic love storyTune in and hear our thoughts
