Ep. 51 Katy Rey | Disorientation, Connection, & Openness
The Work Ethic
I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet with Katy Rey, host of the Not a Great Whisperer Podcast. Her story is incredible and her openness with it is admirable. From felony charges, to infertility, and other major life changes that followed revelations made by those close to her, Katy seems well acquainted with the experience of disorientation. There are many things that happen to us in our worlds, but some events happen to our worlds and Katy is an exemplar of that one who remains open to what is earth shattering after having hers shattered again and again. I hope you can pull as much inspiration from her story as I did. Enjoy. Join Katy Rey on Not a Great Whisperer Podcast to discuss masks in Florida and the US and why you should jump on the bandwagon of wearing them. Katy is a firm believer in trusting doctors and people on the front line. She follows guidelines so that people can get back to human contact again and do things without fear but a lot of the residents from her state do not agree. Katy is fed up with the opinions all over social media with zero research and random conspiracy theories around wearing a mask. She decided to discuss it because she has a platform to do so and hopes she can get through to one person and change their way of thinking. The people in the US need to start doing things for the collective and not just themselves. It is about working together, supporting local businesses and following guidelines. We would love to hear from you and your opinion on the topic. Enjoy the real, unedited episode with your host, Katy Rey.
Episode 53: Book Review with Katy Rey, Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Not A Great Whisperer
Quarantined yet inspired, Katy Rey runs the show solo for Not A Great Whisperer Podcast to discuss the empowering and courageous book Untamed, by Glennon Doyle. Glennon Doyle is the author of one of my favorite books, Love Warrior but Untamed was a book that will stay number one for a very long time. This book hits so many important topics and focuses on trusting ourselves and to stop trying to meet the expectations the world puts on us at such an early age. I go into specific parts of the book that hype me up and help me explain feelings I have never been able to put into words. I also joke and remind people that if you leave your partner to find yourself and free yourself, that does not always mean your soulmate is a 2 time Olympic gold medalist soccer player like Glennon Doyle’s. Her love for Abby and their relationship is unique, beautiful and takes a lot of work. This whole book keeps you wanting more, and after you read it, all you can do is yearn to be free just like her. This is the first time in a very long time, while I was reading I was taking notes because I wanted to go back to the messages and “golden nuggets” in every chapter. This book is for everyone, and I hope everyone reads it. Enjoy the real, unedited book review by Katy Rey.
To celebrate the holiday season, our host Katy Rey joins Not a Great Whisperer Podcast as a guest and our guest host of the day is Katarina. We discuss her gratitude and where she is today and the life experiences that have helped mold her. She discusses how her labels do not define her and loving others and treating people with respect is at her core. A daughter of divorce, daughter to an openly gay man, ex felon, college graduate, professional woman, infertile female, mother, survivor of infidelity and wife of a recovering addict are just some of the labels she has been given over the years. Her story is her own and her journey is inspiring. Giving others hope and reminding them to keep themselves as a top priority is important to her. At any stage in life you have the ability to change your narrative and turn your life around. Enjoy the real, unedited conversation with Katy and Katarina.
To celebrate our 20th episode, our host, Katy Rey joins Not a Great Whisperer Podcast as a guest with Kevin Tydlaska-Dziedzic as our guest host for the day. We discuss the journey that led to the podcast, and sharing stories and giving people a platform to be vulnerable and be themselves. I love sharing obstacles and triumph and just being human. We are not perfect and we need to stop judging. Sharing our stories and accepting one another is so important, and women and men coming together to make the change. We talk about previous and future guests, different generations of guests, topics people are scared to talk about, and what makes Katy passionate about this. Enjoy our real, unedited conversation with Katy and Kevin.
