Trisha has sung backups on more than 100 Garth Brooks songs and got her start opening up for him on his tour back in 91 when she only had 1 song on the radio. Trisha also talks about recording her Frank Sinatra tribute album "Let's Be Frank", her next country album and what she likes to watch on Netflix. Dissecting "Longneck Bottle" by Garth Brooks & Steve Wariner

Nashville Anthems: Dissecting 80s & 90s Country Music

We pull our stools up to the bar as Melton serves up his take on Garth Brooks and Steve Wariner's 1997/1998 hit, "Longneck Bottle", a swinging, honky-tonking celebration (or is it?) of contentment with one's station.  This one's got fiddle, pedal steel, drawly pitch bends, and all the elements needed for Garth Brooks's typically immersive approach to whatever style he happens to be performing.  So come let your hair down, and let's get into a fun one.  Only, be careful with those spurs when you're on the dance floor- those things can be dangerous. What's that? You say your thirst for exploring realistic southern, working class life isn't satiated?  Well then, you need to check out Melton's other podcast, Propaniacs: A King of the Hill Podcast.  Alamos all around.

The Music Universe Podcast

We are in Nashville for a big week of funLast week was a big week for us as we trekked to Nashville to cover the 2022 CMT Music Awards on the Red (Pink) Carpet. We spoke to several country newcomers who are making waves, as well as some well known celebs who were in attendance to present such as Joel McHale and Gayle King. While in town, we covered Breland & Friends at the Ryman and John Mayer at Bridgestone Arena.Mid-week, we were the first outlet to officially unveil the name of Garth Brooks entertainment complex on Nashville's Lower Broadway. We were on the scene as his team assembled the retail store and scrim that graces the three-story complex. Before attending both of his Nissan Stadium concerts, we had the pleasure of chatting with the G-Man himself. During the 20 minute press conference, Matt Bailey asked him a question about future touring plans as the Stadium Tour winds down with five sold out shows in Dublin, Ireland in September. We followed with a personal interview with Brooks. All of our interviews from the CMT Awards and with Brooks are available on this episode of The Music Universe Podcast. Nashville Anthems: Dissecting 80s & 90s Country Music

Buckle up and hang on tight, as we race this pickup truck out of the driveway and into Garth Brooks's frantic 1993 hit "Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)".  We start by talking about when the blues is not the blues and finish by exploring the concept of rural authenticity that is starting to feel like it's at the bottom of this whole 80s & 90s country music phenomenon.  Or is it?  Join Melton as we try to figure it out.Oh, and before you park that truck, be sure to stop by Propaniacs: A King of the Hill Podcast.

Dissecting "Rodeo" by Garth Brooks

Nashville Anthems: Dissecting 80s & 90s Country Music

We seek to build our understanding of 80s & 90s country music by looking at Garth Brooks's energetic and unapologetic 1991 classic "Rodeo".  We talk about the song's killer instrumental track, bluesy vibe, contrast between restrained verses and a frenetic chorus, and unironic celebration of western U.S. imagery.Grab your boots and chaps, and let's dig in.And don't forget to check Melton out on, Propaniacs: A King of the Hill Podcast.
