Songfacts Podcast: Sunny Sweeney

Pantheon - The Music Podcast Network

Sunny Sweeney chose a life in music for the most noble of reasons: She didn't want to get a real job. After graduating from Texas State University in 2001, she couldn't bear the thought of answering to a boss, so she became one, writing her own songs and leading her own band. Her breakthrough single, "From a Table Away," came in 2010. It's one of those songs that hits you in the heart, and it was inspired by a true story, which Sunny explains in this episode. We also hear about some of her other big songs and how she's developed as a singer-songwriter. Her latest album is a live set called Recorded Live At The Machine Shop Recording Studio, part of a format that didn't exist a year ago: a live livestream recording.https://sunnysweeney.com/https://www.songfacts.com/https://www.facebook.com/songfactshttps://twitter.com/Songfactshttp://pantheonpodcasts.com/https://twitter.com/pantheonpodsHosted and Edited by Corey O’Flanaganhttps://twitter.com/ofe1818https://www.instagram.com/coreyofe/corey@songfacts.comSongfacts Podcast Spotify Playlisthttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/3IThMW5yB8XnFh5cS2gTxR?si=KAhiqWRcSIy5uxb2sZPFTAThis show is part of Pantheon Podcasts. A Couple in with Cody Jinks: Special Guest Sunny Sweeney

A Couple in with Cody Jinks

We got to sit down with our good friend Sunny Sweeney for our first remote podcast try after quarantine started. We’ve been tour mates with Sunny several times over the past few years. She’s extremely talented and equally as funny, she’s also the hardest touring musician I know. Enjoy our chat with Sunny, we did.

THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

Born in Houston, TX and later living in Austin, Sunny Sweeny spent her formative college years at Southwest Texas State.  While in college Sunny soon felt her free-spirit calling.  So, she made the move to New York City to take a break from school.  After the New York City experience had ran its course, she moved back to Texas, finished school, and started a band. She put out her first album in 2006 and for the last 14 years she’s became a female juggernaut in the world of Country Music.  She’s toured all over the world including successful tours in Europe and by the middle of 2017 she’d already made her 50th appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Sunny’s highly anticipated new album, Trophy is full of songs that are simply gems.  My personal favorite Sunny Sweeny song is called “Poet’s Prayer”.  It will resonate deeply with anyone who’s ever done time in the music business as well as fans of traveling troubadours.  Here’s the link to the YouTube video of Poet’s Prayer. She has a bright past and what appears to be only a brighter future in Country Music with the release of Trophy. So here we go with episode #78 of The Troubadour featuring our conversation with Sunny Sweeney. The Paul Leslie Hour

Sunny Sweeney is a singer, songwriter, performing and recording artist. She sums up what she does very simply: Playing Honky Tonk Music. Sunny Sweeney was kind enough to grant as much time as was needed for this interview prior to her embark on country music performances in Japan. Ms. Sweeney will be performing December 15th and 16th, 2018 (Saturday and Sunday) at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia. The Paul Leslie Hour will be attending and reporting back about the experience. Enjoy our first ever interview with Sunny Sweeney, right where? Here on The Paul Leslie Hour.
