Staying Curious and Examining the Failures of D2C with Ben Clark, Casper
Ben Clark is the Chief Technology Officer of the leading D2C mattress company Casper Sleep. As a senior tech leader of a popular D2C brand, Ben says it can be difficult to stay ahead of the curve and set trends. For him, the key to success in D2C is simple: stay curious and examine your failures. A lot of context switching comes with managing digital products for a physical products company. To navigate it, Ben and the Casper team embrace elegant simplicity, both in their products and strategy. Ben shows us that great ideas can come from anywhere. At Casper, he’s seen that true innovation involves cross-functional collaboration and open conversations.
Ben Clark and Nathan Lott are owners of B-Unlimited, a collegiate licensed apparel company based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. When Ben bought B-Unlimited in 2006, it was a small operation with a staff of two employees. During the economic crisis of 2009, the company lost nearly all of their clients, and under Ben’s leadership, the company made a strategic pivot and prioritized offering unmatched customer service combined with incredible custom art on the highest quality product. From that point forward, B-Unlimited has continued to grow, and in less than five years, the company’s net worth escalated from $2 to $10 million. And now reaching goals of $20 million. B-Unlimited is one of seven businesses in the state to be recognized by Inc 5000 as one of the fastest growing private companies in the nation and has made that list for four consecutive years. B-Unlimited was also recognized by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce as the Big Business of the Year in 2019. Ben has not just built a successful business, however; he has also curated a unique company culture that has led to B-Unlimited being recognized by Inc Magazine as one of the Top Places to Work in 2018 & 2019. This national designation was assessed by multiple factors, including low turnover rates and high employee satisfaction. Guiding all of those factors is an environment of care and commitment that is reflected in the company’s ethos: Be Unique. Be Yourself. B-Unlimited. Nathan started JCG Apparel in 2004 in Oxford, MS and had a similar path to success in the collegiate market. In 2020 B-Unlimited acquired JCG Apparel and now the operation includes 6 retail stores around the southeast. B-UnlimitedJCG ApparelChasing What Matters InstagramChasing What Matters Website

Ben Clark and B-Unlimited Provide the Best Custom Apparel in Northwest Arkansas and Beyond
I am Northwest Arkansas
About the Show: Sometimes delays in life work out to your advantage. This episode is an example of that. We initially sat down with Ben Clark, Owner of Custom Apparel maker B-Unlimited last February 2020. And then the pandemic hit. We decided to hold off on releasing that episode. It was a good one, but Ben thought it would be better to discuss how they survived the pandemic and grew in the process by holding on to as many folks as they could. Ben encouraged his team to focus on getting 1 percent better every day, which became the company mantra. Ben discovered new ways to collaborate with other firms and organizations during the pandemic. Locally, B-Unlimited played a significant role in helping organizations raise money through T-Shirt sales in addition to timely donations to a lot of Service workers in the area. Ben also connected with some other apparel companies and decided that now was the best time to consider growing the organization despite the pandemic running full tilt. This foresight and willingness to try new things are paying off handsomely for Ben and the B-Unlimited team. All this and more on this episode of I am Northwest Arkansas.
