The Hybrid Agent Model and Becoming Investor Friendly with Trevor Mauch

Real Estate Marketing Dude

There’s a new kid on the block as of late, have you heard of them? Well if not, you need to, and it’s the hybrid agent. The individual who has the ability to be both an agent and an investor at the same time, and they’re quickly becoming more of a threat to other traditional real estate agents in their area. They’re getting more leads, finding more business, and with that, closing more deals. But what’s changed? It’s not the marketing or the lead sources. It’s not the brokerage they’re with, or the team they work with. It’s simple, hybrid agents are fantastic problem solvers, that’s it. But how can you take advantage of this hybrid model for your business? What are the advantages, disadvantages, and things to keep in mind when becoming a hybrid agent? Trevor is the CEO of Carrot, one of the nation's fastest growing companies according to Inc Magazine, where they have helped the nations top real estate investors and agents pull in over 3 million online leads in just 5 years... closing thousands of deals... with their software and training. Trevor lives in Roseburg, Oregon with his wife and 3 kids, and is passionate about using business to fuel your passion and to amplify the impact you want to make in the world. Part of the impact he's passionate about making is helping entrepreneurs unleash that entrepreneurial dream of finally unlocking that FREEDOM, FLEXIBILITY, FINANCES, and IMPACT that you’ve dreamed of but haven't been able to fully make happen. In this week on the podcast, Trevor joins me to talk about the hybrid agent and the importance of it going forward, especially in a heavy seller’s market like we are seeing in spring of 2021. By giving multiple offers to your buyers, you’ll start to see much higher conversions, and people will actually trust you more than if you just were trying to list their house and get a commission. We’ll also touch on the Carrot.com website model and what they’ve done to help thousands of agents go from a boring website that doesn’t generate business, to what he calls, an authority site that is responsible for a lot of inbound, organic, and warm leads to start calling you! Listen in for Trevor’s great advice and get actionable steps on how to get more business, just by doing two simple things, but doing them really well and consistently. Three Things You’ll Learn in This Episode What are the advantages of becoming a hybrid agent? We’ll break down what hybrid agents are able to do that your typical real estate agent can’t. From being able to quickly find investment opportunities, to closing deals much faster, we’ll cover it all. How can you use the hybrid model to its highest potential So you’re ready to become a hybrid agent, but how do you actually use the abilities to their highest potential? There’s a few ways, and we’ll walk you through a few scenarios, roleplay situations, and other things that will help you become the best hybrid agent you can. Using your website to become an online authority in your area and what content you should have on it Many agents and investors create a website to check a box, and then complain because it doesn’t generate any business. That’s simply because the content on it isn’t made to convert. The only goal of a website is to get people to know, like, and trust you, so we’ll break it down into simple steps for you to create a killer website that actually gets you more business. It's going to come from sending out the mail, sending out the cold calls to activate demand for people that aren't actively looking on Google. But your highest quality, most motivated ones are going to come from a Google search”. “I think if you're doing something with enough energy and it gives you enough energy, you're probably going to be pretty damn good at that thing. And if you do it enough, you'll probably get noticed by people and somehow make a career out of it.  “Chase energy, not money. Hopefully, money follows but I would much rather be high energy and doing things I love and be broke versus really low energy, miserable, and have a bunch of money. So that's me”. Episode #222 Generate Leads Forever With Evergreen Content with Trevor Mauch

The HyperFast Agent Podcast

In this episode of The Hyperfast Agent Podcast, host Dan Lesniak interviews Trevor Mauch, a serial entrepreneur that built Carrot. While many agents are stuck on the hamster wheel of marketing content, Trevor explains how creating evergreen content can break the marketing cycle and help generate leads forever! Episode Highlights:  Trevor lives in a small town in Oregon, an area known for neither tech nor real estate. Growing up in another small town in Oregon, Trevor never thought he would wind up in Roseberg. By the time Trevor was a junior in college, he had already purchased his first piece of real estate, a 4 unit apartment building. Carrot.com helps real estate agents that want to get off the hamster wheel that marketing content can become. Trevor discovered that he absolutely loved marketing when working for his uncle’s brokerage. Starting in 2008, Trevor has come a long way to get to 90k inbound leads every month. Back in 2008, it was all about writing content that had enough value for Google to bring it to the top of search results. Now, Google prevents content creators from hiding keywords at the bottom of their content. Big companies like Google and Facebook realized a long time ago that their businesses are all about user experience. Trevor works on honing his mental fitness through intense physical challenges. Clubhouse might just be the first social media app to hit older generations before young people. With Clubhouse, not everyone has the ability to leave comments, leading to seemingly less toxicity. The problem with social media is you only have about 72 hours for people to view the content before it gets lost in the feed. Right now, Clubhouse is growing incredibly fast because of the fear of missing out (FOMO) that is happening in the world right now. Around 2011, Trevor realized the differences between hamster-wheel marketing and evergreen marketing. Evergreen marketing can add stability to entrepreneurs and businesses while giving them the freedom to come and go worry-free. All types of marketing work but it’s up to you to decide which one will give you the life and business that you enjoy. Decide your non-negotiables and what kinds of activities give you energy rather than take it away. It’s important to remember that your evergreen stuff will take time to climb up the Google rankings, so other marketing methods are necessary as well. Leads from long-form content platforms are usually easier to close because they are intent-based leads. Pick niches, like neighborhoods and construction real estate, that you like to serve and give each on a page on your website. Faith, family, fitness, finances, friends, and fun act as Trevor’s tools to create a new habit or discipline that brings back momentum. All of Trevor’s challenges are time-based, specific, and hold him accountable. Your choices and beliefs act as commitments to the life that you either want or don’t want. Trevor is using physical challenges to blast his limiting beliefs to pieces. New real estate agents must adopt the mindset of “when” rather than “if”. Investors and agents should focus on working together because, at the end of the day, clients should be presented with options. When Carrot started to grow, Trevor made the decision to ride it out and learn how to lead. Trevor hopes to reach a spot in business where he does not have to work on his business daily. 3 Key Points: One of Trevor’s non-negotiables with his business and life is that he can build them anywhere, thus why he lives in a tiny town in Oregon. Clubhouse is bringing people back to long-form content as a way to build trust and credibility faster than social media posts. Outranking Zillow is almost impossible, but by focusing on niches that you love to serve and giving each one a page on your website with 500-800 words, you can beat Zillow at that level. How to Create a Business that Gives Freedom and Creates Impact while Avoiding Burnout with Trevor Mauch

Just Start Real Estate with Mike Simmons

For this episode, I am thrilled to interview Trevor Mauch, the CEO at Carrot. Carrot is a digital SaaS company that helps over 6,500 real estate professionals generate consistent, high-quality leads online by leveraging content marketing and is an industry-leading software. Trevor is passionate about using business to fuel investor’s passion and to amplify the impact investors want to make in the world, helping entrepreneurs achieve freedom, flexibility, finances, and impact. Trevor shares his background story of buying his first rental property back in college and how the business that his parents were in discouraged him from entrepreneurship at a young age. He describes how his dad pushed him to buy that first property, which he still owns today. Trevor talked about limiting beliefs that people have that pile-up and create an impossible mountain to climb. We then moved on to when Trevor moved to Portland and started entertaining the idea of entrepreneurship. He explains how he gave himself time to figure out entrepreneurship, which was hard for him financially before things started looking up and he started earning a consistent income. Trevor describes how he found real estate wholesaling and also turned his passion for marketing into a day job for his active income. He opens up about his serial entrepreneurship endeavors which include real estate, marketing, publishing company, and others. We dive into the topic of entrepreneurship and whether entrepreneurs are born or made. By comparing his own journey with his brother’s, Trevor believes that entrepreneurs are born, but also agrees that they have to develop certain attributes to be a true entrepreneur. Carrot was born from Trevor’s passion for marketing that had turned into a draining activity before he found his unique abilities and went all-in with them. He describes how he found a mentor and emulated him to find things that give him more energy. Trevor advises people to stop doing things that drain their energy even if they bring you a lot of money, and instead focus on things that give you energy and keep you motivated. We discuss the Carrot brand and how it helps real estate investors create customized sites that rank and convert well on Google. Trevor explains how they’ve been adjusting their data over the years to keep up with the competition. They have been building a lot of content marketing tools to make it easier for people to get content online and rank it well on Google, plus win more deals by being the trusted authority. He explains that his most successful clients at Carrot meet their goals with written content by either writing it themselves or by choosing Carrot’s automated content packs. Lastly, we talk about the importance of scheduling your content on your site and social media as a way to create authority. Trevor explains how content helps you as an investor demystify your process which encourages people to trust and follow you. Notable Quotes: “That’s the difference I find between successful and unsuccessful people - some just do something with what they know and others don’t.” Mike Simmons “People often have the ingredients of entrepreneurship, but they either never put themselves in that position or they’re never put in that position, so it’s unrealized.” Mike Simmons “You know you’re doing the right stuff when people pay you really well and say you’re really good at it.” Trevor Mauch “I found my unique abilities and went all-in on them.” Trevor Mauch “You win, not by saying you can buy fast because everyone can. You win by being the trusted authority in that area or topic.” Trevor Mauch “Even if we’re not trying to focus on Google rankings, we need to focus on making sure that we have an authority hub, so all our marketing converts better because of the content on our website.” Trevor Mauch “Leads are the oxygen of your company; you can’t live without leads.” Mike Simmons Links: Carrot CarrotCast Trevor’s Website Trevor on Instagram 7 Figure Flipping Return on Investments Just Start Real Estate JSRE on Facebook Mike on Facebook Mike on Instagram Mike on LinkedIn Mike on Twitter Level Jumping: How I Grew My Business to Over $1 Million in Profits in 12 Months
