The American dream, beating Europeans at their own game! Seven times Tour de France champion, king of cyclists, Lance Armstrong had it all. He was an American hero, a survivor who beat all odds, who dreamed big and lived boldly. And lied. It all comes tumbling down and the Apologists are there to help make sense of the pieces. Lance apologizes upon the alter of Oprah (all hail!) raising the question: what happens when our heroes turn out to be human after all?
Lance Armstrong is the spokesperson for the infamous Mt.Shasta Snow Trip. We discuss his VW history & Collection special buses. The snow trip is an incredible trip only for those brave Bus souls who want an experience of a lifetime. Every super bowl Sunday weekend the warriors commence on rally style journey through fire roads and back country of northern California. We all know who Lance Armstrong is - what he’s known for, and what he’s not. I just wanted to talk to him about the cancer that almost took his life 20+ years ago. When I got diagnosed back in September 2018 one of the first things I did was go buy his book, “It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life.” I needed to know how Lance beat the advanced testicular cancer that had already spread to his lungs and brain by the time they discovered it, when he was just 25 years old and at his physical prime. So that’s what Lance and I talked about. Lucky me, I got to spend an hour with the guy who unknowingly helped me warrior up and bring my A-Game to my own cancer battle. Like Lance said in his book, “What other choice is there but to hope? We have two options - medically and emotionally: Give Up...or Fight Like Hell.” I’ll opt for the latter, just like Lance. @lancearmstrong www.lancearmstrong.com More at www.notimetowasteproject.com or follow @notimetowasteproject

Lance Armstrong | The Redemption Story That ESPN Overlooked
The Great Unlearn
This conversation offers a simple, yet often tough, perspective when it comes to how we respond to challenging periods in life. Do you retreat when you are in mucky waters or do you lean into it and allow your hurt / humiliation / anger to evolve into purpose? From 7 Tour de France wins to Livestrong Foundation to battling lawsuits to Next Ventures, Lance Armstrong shares his journey through life and how facing his challenges head on served him rather than hiding away and letting that minimize him. With the current climate, I’ve had many conversations with others on the hardship that they are experiencing. This episode with Lance provided a nice shift in awareness that we are responsible for how we feel, given any type of circumstance.During this conversation, Lance and I discuss...• What can come from releasing bitterness.• The emotional impacts from retirement that no one talks about.• Not allowing hardships take us out of the game of life.• Continuing forward movement through our darkest moments.• How a simple mindset shift opened a channel for opportunities.• Letting our kids choose their own life path, their own passions.References:The Forward Podcast – https://bit.ly/forwardpodThe Move Podcast – https://bit.ly/movepodPowerDot – https://www.powerdot.comStrava – https://www.strava.comNext Ventures – https://nextventures.comPr Lotion – https://amphuman.comConnect with Cal –UnlearnX: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/unlearn-xInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/cal.callahan/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thegreatunlearnYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/thegreatunlearn/Website: https://www.thegreatunlearn.comNewsletter: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/newsletterThis show is produced by Soulfire Productions
He famously won the Tour de France seven consecutive times from 1999 to 2005. During that period, Lance Armstrong was adamant that he never took performance-enhancing drugs. But in reality, the so-called "cleanest athlete in sports" was running the most sophisticated doping ring in history. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
