In this first episode I’m delighted to welcome producer and mixer Catherine Marks. Catherine first moved to London in 2005 to train as an assistant engineer under Flood at Assault and Battery studios in London. In 2009 Catherine began working alongside the Brit Award-Winning producer and mixer Alan Moulder, where she worked on projects including Interpol, Foals, Death Cab for Cutie, Killers, Ronnie Vannuci and Blonde Redhead. Catherine won the 2016 MPG Award as Breakthrough Producer of The Year and in 2018 Catherine won the award for MPG Producer of the Year. I sat down with Catherine to discuss how and why she got into the studio and what it’s like to work at Assault and Battery studios with Flood and Alan Moulder and her approach to working with bands and production.
