We Salute You: Military Service Is a Family Tradition for Deshmukh Family-Col Deepak Kumar Deshmukh fulfils dreams of his father For some families, serving India is in the blood, and it passes from generation to generation.3rd consecutive generation of this family is continuing to serve in Army These multigenerational military families share their stories of duty and honor Col Deepak Kumar Deshmukh (Retd), born on 23 Apr 1960 joined Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun and got commissioned in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Corps in June 1985 after completing B.Tech ( Electronics & Communications) He dreamt of donning a uniform right from childhood seeing his father Sub Bhagwan Deshmukh. However, to fulfill his father’s dream of seeing him as an Engineer, he got admission and completed his engineering. Then he got selected as a Technical entry for joining the Indian Army which doubled the joy of his father. He excelled in Hockey and boxing which enabled him to win Hockey blue during training at Indian Military Academy. He commanded EME Battalion in Rajouri Sector, J&K where his father fought enemies in 1965. After a distinguished service of 31 years, he is settled in Pune currently. His daughter, son, and son-in-law are currently serving In the Indian Navy.
