Julia Campanelli is an award-winning filmmaker and actress. Her film “116” won 27 awards and screened in over 50 festivals world-wide. Her screenplay “The Paisley Witch Trial” has won 8 Best Screenplay awards, was short-listed by The Black List to become a Finalist for Cinereach Film Fund 2019. Founder of Shelter Film, a New York-based independent film company dedicated to creating films by and about women and other under-represented groups, as well as Shelter Theatre Group NYC, a non-profit company dedicated to equality on stage, through gender-blind, age-blind, and color-blind casting. She has produced/directed 13 stage productions in NYC, including the critically acclaimed Macbeth on LES.An award-winning actress, Julia stars in NBCUniversal’s Dementia 13, Shelter Film's 116, Kill the Monsters (Raindance), Homicide City, and One Life To Live. She played Hecate in the OBIE winner Sleep No More NY.Julia broke the gender barrier in USA sports as the first girl to play on a boys’ soccer team. She was 16 years old.
