Now, more than ever, risk management leaders need to be working across the business—especially with their peers in information security—to mitigate the threats that have been created in the new digital era.

Before 2020, physical risk and compliance were defined in traditional terms. After the global pandemic, the definition of both risk categories has changed forever, and the ways to manage them is evolving.

Watch as Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli talk with RSA directors, Steve Schlarman and Amy Blackshaw, about the ways GRC and InfoSec teams can collaborate to address overall business risk and how the two disciplines are converging.

David Lemmon, VP, Global Sales and Go To Market, RSA Archer, RSA Security

How Jeremy Fisher Became The # 1 Broker In The Country

In this candid and relieving interview Jeremy Fisher of 1st Street Financial, we cover a number of topics pertaining to personal success, business development, and contributing back to the community.

You may know Jeremy as having been ranked # 1 broker in the MPA Top 100 list with a settlement volume of $320 million.  But as Jeremy readily admits, that’s when organising a deal required less admin and lenders approved applications faster.

With a healthy perspective on the industry, Jeremy understands acutely that though he may have written the most volume, there are brokers the country over who might write just as many, if not more deals.  A major difference is that with an office in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and an average deal size around $1M, it makes it easier for the volumes to grow quicker.

Jeremy also touches on simple strategies that helped him immensely in the early years to build strategic relationships and earn more client referrals.  Like he said, that when the core of the business is focused on delivering a great client experience, there is more than one way to go about it.

These days, 1st Street Financial gives back through various charities that they support, and they have grown their team of brokers so Jeremy can share and enjoy the journey with other like-minded people.

Visit the 1st Street Financial website if you would like to reach out to Jeremy or find out more about their business.

29 - Creating Multiple Side Hustles w/ Jeremy Fisher

Jeremy has a few side hustles going, currently has a blog called “3 Hour Flip”, podcast called Pick the Brain and another called The Aworkening, which talks a lot about what we talk about here at Hobby Hustler!

Jeremy grew up with parents and grandparents who told him to go to school, get a degree, come out and get a job. Straight out of high school he started sharpening knives, the job paid $12/hour job, which was amazing at the time. His parents told him it was good, to stay there and work his way up.

He got introduced to Dave Ramsey, a financial guru and podcasters. He was talking about being intentional with your life and finances, don’t just deal with what happens to you as it happens to you.

He then found Dan Miller’s podcast, where he was talking about side hustle ideas. Dan’s podcast was the one that ignited Jeremy to start a few of his own side hustles.

076: What Your Voice Can Do, with Jeremy Fisher (Vocal Process)

Today we're joined by Jeremy Fisher, one of the co-founders of Vocal Process, one of the most impressive and useful websites for learning how to develop your singing voice and sing better. Through blog posts, live in-person training, online webinars, books and even an app, Vocal Process covers all the most in-demand topics for singers, ranging from how to get started and sing in tune, through extending your vocal range, through developing your singing style and even passing auditions.

Jeremy himself has had a fascinating career and one thing that made me particularly keen to have him on the show was that he was an instrumentalist first and foremost, and we think that’s given him a particular perspective on the musicality of singing that’s distinctive. The other component of that is definitely his focus on the science and analytical approach to how the human voice works and how to improve your singing.

There was a lot that we wanted to quiz Jeremy on and we had to hold ourselves back a bit so as not to produce an epic 5-hour podcast - but we still crammed a ton of interesting stuff in!

In this conversation we talk about:

• How his brain works as an expert sight-reader, and the process of learning to do the same thing yourself

• The “Trombone exercise” that can help you learn to sing the right notes and land on them in tune.

• And why wanting to help singers led to Jeremy discovering a love of having a camera stuck up his nose.

This is one of those episodes that packs a whole bunch of different subjects and a ton of expertise into a short conversation, so whether you’re an instrumentalist, a singer, or a bit of both, you’re going to take at least one - and probably several - really useful ideas or insights from this.
