Beyoncé Pens Justice for Breonna Taylor Open Letter, Michael Clifford Denies Sex Assault Allegations

Beyoncé has written an open letter to Daniel Cameron, the Kentucky Attorney General asking for justice for Breonna Taylor.

In her letter posted on her website she said “Three months have passed -- and Breonna Taylor's family still waits for justice. Ms. Taylor's family has not been able to take time to process and grieve. Instead, they have been working tirelessly to rally the support of friends, their community, and the country.” She went on to say, “Bring criminal charges against Jonathan Mattingly, Myles Cosgrove, and Brett Hankison. Commit to transparency in the investigation and prosecution of these officers' criminal conduct. Investigate the LMPD's response to Breonna Taylor's murder, as well the pervasive practices that result in the repeated deaths of unarmed Black citizens."

Taylor Swift is another artist demanding some changes - she wants racist statues in Tennessee to be taken down.

She posted a series of tweets explaining how sick to makes her feel to be from Tennessee and knowing that there are so many historical monuments of people who did terrible things. She explained that a statue of Edward Carmack was taken down by protestors last week because he is a white supremacist newspaper editor who published pro lynching editorials. The state already vowed to replace the statue. She explained that the taking down of statues isn’t going to fix centuries of systemic oppression, violence, and hatred that black people have had to endure but it might bring everyone one step closer to feeling safe.

Multiple artists like Shawn Mendes, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez have been handing over their Instagram accounts to black voices to share their stories and information to better help the Black Lives Matter movement and this has encouraged many more influential people to do the same like Julie Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow. It has even started the hashtag #ShareTheMicNow.

Ruby Bridges took over Selena Gomez’ account. She is the first Black child to desegregate the all white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana in 1960 when she was just 6 years old. She had to be escorted into school by her parents and four federal marshals because of the protests going on outside from people trying to put a stop to it. She shared footage from that day and discussed how she has dedicated her life to promoting tolerance and unity.

Sia is apologizing after confusing Nicki Minaj for Cardi B on Twitter. It started when a fan tagged Sia on Twitter sharing a photo of Nicki Minaj asking if she would ever collab with her. She responded saying she would LOVE to collaborate with Cardi B, which then blew up since the photo was obviously of Nicki Minaj.

5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has dismissed allegations that he sexually assaulted underage fans as “just BEYOND untrue” and “so completely false.”

“They are just BEYOND untrue,” he wrote, before addressing a specific accusation. “i was never allowed in the crowd I only ever watched at front of house – and I would’ve never EVER done that,” he wrote. “i am so f**king upset.”
He shared a video clip showing 5SOS being mobbed by fans outside their tour bus in Montreal in 2013.

“please understand it wouldve been logistically impossible for me to get through a crowd at a show i just played at! i’m not trying to be defensive I promise this is just so completely false.”

Ministry Through Animals and Fascination: Interview with Michael Clifford

In the bible, God created animals before he created people. When Jesus was born it was in a stable surrounded by animals.

Animals in the bible go on to be associated with The Holy Trinity, with God sometimes referred to as the great “lion” of Judah, Jesus Christ as the “lamb” of God, and the Holy Spirit as a “dove” that descended from heaven.

With these mentions of animals as well as in others biblical passages that connect animals to people and faith, it only goes to show a reflection of God’s own love of animals and his want for humans to take care of them.

Our guest for today talks about lessons of faith from animal ministry. Being the Curator of Innovation and Partnerships for GLMV Architecture in Wichita Kansas, specializing in zoo design, Michael Clifford shares how compassion for our four-legged friends helps spread God’s message of love, hope, kindness, and compassion to the community.

Monickered as the “Zoo Philosopher”, Mike travels the world talking about the role of zoos and aquariums in fostering fascination and compassion for the created world. Mike is also the founder and facilitator for Capacity Ministries, and organization that offers hands-on training to community of influencers to help them integrate discipleship and change into their ministry. (Listen to our interview with Michael Clifford about Capacity Ministries here.)
