Time for Crime

14-year-old Hannah Williams, from Deptford in South London, went missing in April 2001. However, in an example of a media phenomenon known as missing white woman syndrome, the national press didn't cover her disappearance as they did with other missing girls such as Danielle Jones and Milly Dowler. In fact, when Hannah's body was eventually found the police believed it to be that of someone else. In this episode I look back at Hannah's case, the disparity in media reporting of missing persons cases, and how a dangerous sexual predator was eventually brought to justice.
