Would letting go of Tee Martin be a mistake for Tennessee football and Josh Heupel?
The Volunteer State
Wide receivers coach Tee Martin's two-year contract expired Sunday. Tennessee has not addressed Martin's future, but unless he receives a new deal, Martin's tenure at his alma mater is finished. That rankled some Vols fans and former teammates. Martin, a beloved quarterback at Tennessee, led the Vols to a national championship during the 1998 season. On this edition of "The Volunteer State," Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams address Martin's situation and discuss whether Josh Heupel should keep him on staff. Should Jeremy Pruitt demote Jim Chaney and give Tee Martin play-calling duties?
The Volunteer State
When Tennessee hired Jim Chaney as its offensive coordinator in January 2019, it handed him a big contact and plenty of freedom. Halfway through Chaney's second season, it's not going well. The Vols (2-3) rank 12th in the SEC in scoring offense at 22.2 points per game. On this edition of "The Volunteer State," Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams of the News Sentinel discuss whether Pruitt should take play calling duties away from Chaney and award them to another offensive assistant, such as Tee Martin.
