Rapid Response: The rise of the “wisdom worker,” w/Modern Elder Academy’s Chip Conley

Masters of Scale

As we live and work longer, leaders need to redefine how they think about attracting and developing intergenerational talent. Modern Elder Academy's Chip Conley is at the forefront of this mindset shift, explaining why “wisdom workers” will take the place of “knowledge workers.” A close mentor to Airbnb founder Brian Chesky, Chip stresses that those in mid-career face both more angst and more opportunity than ever. He provides a roadmap for reframing midlife from crisis to calling, and argues that five generations in the workplace requires a new generational compact. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. 306: The Key To Long-Life Learning with Chip Conley

Kwik Brain with Jim Kwik

What are the keys to long-life learning? There’s a difference between being a life-long learner and long-life learner. How you learn at thirty years old is different from how you learn at sixty years old. As you age, your brain changes, which then transforms how you look at certain topics, what you want to learn about, and why you want to learn about them. To go deeper into this topic, I’m thrilled to have Chip Conley as our special guest today. Chip is the founder and CEO of Modern Elder Academy, which focuses on the value of intergenerational collaboration in companies. His latest book, Wisdom@Work: The Making of a Modern Elder, encourages people to rethink the value of having five generations contributing to the workspace. Long-life learning is the idea your thoughts are part of a holistic, systemic process that adapts as you age. Your focus and interests shift into seeking deeper meaning in the topics and subjects you study. Society tends to focus on how long you live. Listen in, as Chip explains why he believes the focus should be on depth and how you can become a long-life learner. If you’re inspired, I want to invite you to join me in my brand NEW 10-day course, specifically designed to boost your productivity. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I give you step-by-step guides using the accelerated learning model to help you get more done and achieve your goals. Mid-Life Career Re-invention with Chip Conley - Ep 141

Crazy Money with Paul Ollinger

Something happens to many of us in our 40’s or 50’s: having achieved a certain level of success, we yearn to find work that is an expression of who we are. Chip Conley can help with that. He founded and runs Modern Elder Academy, a school and retreat center dedicated to helping people navigate midlife and beyond. To do so, he draws on insights and wisdom earned over his own incredible career journey. For over two decades, Chip ran Joie de Vivre, the boutique hotel owner/operator that he founded in his 20s. In the depths of the Great Recession, the combination of medical crisis and market turmoil compelled Chip to sell out at the bottom of the market. While many might have given up, Chip forged ahead, reinvented and redefined who he was, all the while staying open to where that journey would take him. It eventually took him to Air BnB where become the in-house consigliere (among other things) for Air BnB CEO/co-founder Brian Chesky. Today, Chip writes, speaks, surfs, and provides the space and resources to help other “successful” people examine their lives and commit to positive paths forward.  Learn more about Modern Elder Academy hereand Chip’s newsletter here.  • 💪🏼 Rate and Review Crazy Money by clicking HERE.💪🏼 • 🦸‍♀️ Follow Paul on Instagram HERE🦸‍♂️  Topics covered in this episode: #purpose #wellness #community #travel #hotels #Airbnb
