Creating Peaches and Cream: Part 2 with Nicola Smith

Beauty from the Heart

Today you’re going to meet one of my oldest friends, Nicola Smith, known to many as one of the co-founders of Peaches and Cream. What you might not know is that everything I know about make-up I learned at Peaches, where Kate and Nicola took me on as a make-up artist while I lived in Liverpool for University. This is such a long and personal story for us so I’ve decided to split it into two parts. Today in part two, Nicola tells us about how the brand evolved from a make-up landmark in Liverpool to a global empire online. Here are a few of the things we discuss in this week’s episode that you may wish to take a look at. (Gaynor and Jed, I know you’ll be listening and reading, this one is for you!) Creating Peaches and Cream, Part 1 with Kate Matthews (nee Donnelly): https://play.acast.com/s/beauty-from-the-heart/creating-peaches-and-cream-part-1-with-kate-matthews-nee-don Peaches and Cream website: https://bit.ly/rosepeachesPeaches and Cream on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/peachesmakeup/The Peaches Hub, a collection of fan artistry: https://www.fabulousmakeup.co.uk/pages/thepeacheshub See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Episode 16: Supporting Your Best Friend Through A Spiritual Awakening with Nicola Smith

Rise of the Savvy Souls with Sarah Flynn

Supporting a friend through their spiritual awakening takes a special, open, and accepting bond. I’m so lucky to have shared this bond with my best friend, Nicola Smith, who supported me through my spiritual awakening - and I supported her through hers! About Nicola Smith Nicola Smith is the co-founder of Peaches&Cream make-up and salon. Every day she helps women step into their unique beauty and power, feeling awakened and whole. She is my childhood best friend who I’m so excited to share with you today. About Supporting Your Best Friend Through A Spiritual Awakening Going through a spiritual transformation on your own can be a challenge. I was so lucky to have my best friend, Nicola Smith, to support me on this path. And, as you’ll see throughout this episode, my awakening led Nicola to have one of her own! When my awakening first started, Nicola was my sounding board. She didn’t understand everything that I was going through, but she stood there next to me, supporting me with every step I took. This support was absolutely invaluable and, honestly, is one of the most important things you can do if one of your friends is experiencing something like this, too. Growing up, Nicola and I shared so many moments of manifestation together, even though at the time we didn’t know that’s what we were doing. But it was these moments that brought so much honesty and closeness to our friendship. It’s essential that you have a friend you can talk about this stuff with - so if you don’t have one already, ask the Universe to send you one! Nicola shares with us how owning her own successful makeup business and brand led her into a constant state of hustle and grind. She explains how busy she was, all the time, and how this dimmed her light. When she realised she could step back, reevaluate her life, and spend time loving herself, her life opened up around her. Nicola spent so much time being busy all the time, she didn’t even realise that she was holding herself back from stepping into her own power. This was a totally fear-based mindset and one that we’ve worked through together. Nicola has now learned how to choose her destiny and outcome, and she tells you the trick to that in this episode. Our spiritual awakenings always look so different, they’re so personal and unique! Nicola learned to change her struggles into her success. While yes, the pandemic and quarantine is a very real and very scary situation we’re in, Nicola decided not to let it hinder her business. She learned to adapt and now is 100% standing in her truth, helping women feel beautiful and powerful every single day. Finally, Nicola shares what the most important things you can do are: Prioritise yourself Meditate & journal Hold space for anyone who needs to be heard Do you have a friend who supports you on your spiritual awakening? Let me know in the comments, lovely! In This Episode How you can support a friend going through a spiritual awakening [6:00] Why you need to have a friend you can talk about manifestation with [11:00] What happens to you when you live in a constant state of hustle and grind [29:00] Why we are scared of our own power [31:50] How to choose your own destiny and outcome [33:30] Why you need to adopt an attitude of adaption [43:45] What the most important things you can do are [47:45] Quotes “I’ve come to the conclusion of just thinking that every single person has their own thing that they believe in. Everyone’s different. Some people don’t believe in God but they’ll believe that someone is with them.” [25:15] “Four or five years ago, if I’d gotten a troll on social media, I’d have been on the floor devastated that someone’s called me a name. Whereas I’ve had to understand my own worth and learn about me and understand who I was before I could put myself out there to the world. To me, it’s just amazing now, because I didn’t ever realise that’s what I was scared of. I was scared of falling in love with myself.” [31:14] “A lot of people talk about what’s going on as if it’s a negative thing whereas, I’ve always been quite an optimistic person where I think, ‘if that’s not working, how can I make it work?’ If anyone’s listening, thinking, ‘well, I wonder what my thing is?’ You need to just think about what it is that actually makes you happy?” [42:11] “The pain that people are going through is the thing that’s going to be your strength in the future. That is exactly what it is.” [53:25] Resources Mentioned Find Nicola Smith Online Follow Nicola Smith on Instagram Follow Peaches&Cream on Instagram | Facebook | YouTube Join The Soul Savvy Collective Facebook Group Find Sarah Flynn Online Follow Sarah Flynn on Instagram | Facebook | YouTube If you liked this episode, please check out some others: Episode 7: The Power of Self-Belief with Christina Marcou Episode 14: Making Space for New Levels of Expansion Episode 8: Knowing your Spirit Guides & Working with Divine Feminine Goddesses

Grey Matter Ep. 2 (a unique, personal dialogue on racism with Twanna Harris and Nicola Smith)

Begin the Begin Podcast by Jeff Hilimire

In this episode, Nicola Smith, Twanna Harris, and I return to talk more about their new initiative: Grey Matter. Listen along as we discuss how storytelling affects perception of reality, and how to affect change through narrative. About Grey Matter: Racism is not just black and white; the fundamentals of racism are often found between the lines in the grey matter. We are digging deep into the layers of racism through our own personal stories and experiences of the world around us. From our local community leaders to CEOs of the corporate world to experts in every field, we’re here to uncover the multifaceted ways racism, patriarchy, constructs of whiteness, and identity have adapted and impacted our everyday lives and the systems and institutions we rely on. We’re challenging ourselves and all of you to start the dialogue around how we move past the current outcomes of racism considering the economic and racial disparities that continue to plague our society. We all have the power to rewrite the narratives that are shaping our industries and our world. Join us on our journey as we explore the substance between the black and the white.
