WTH is going on with Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal? Rep. Adam Kinzinger on the truth about the “endless” Afghanistan war
What the Hell Is Going On
President Biden recently announced that he plans to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021. The decision has sparked accusations of “surrender,” and fears that Biden is repeating the Iraq withdrawal mistake again -- a decision that led to the establishment of ISIS’s caliphate in Iraq. Rep. Adam Kinzinger joined Dany and Marc to talk about the implications of the US troop withdrawal. He also discusses his service in Afghanistan and Iraq, the timing of Biden’s decision, and what it will mean for American national security. Rep. Kinzinger is currently serving his sixth term in the House of Representatives, representing Illinois’ Sixteenth Congressional District. Prior to being elected to Congress, Kinzinger served in the Air Force in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.Download the transcript here.

Adam Kinzinger says the battle with Trumpism has to be fought in public (bc he knows political parties have lost their power)
The Long Game
Adam Kinzinger, 42, has been in Congress since 2010. He's an Air National Guard pilot who flew over 100 combat missions on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He never said much about Trump prior to the election, and has been a reliable conservative vote. But since the election, he's been everywhere. He's been the most outspoken Republican elected official to publicly call out the constant lying by former President Trump about the election, and has taken it up several notches since the January 6 assault on the Capitol. He voted to impeach Trump, and to strip Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments. And he's even formed a political action committee and said he's going to use it to support primary challengers against other Republicans in Congress who are most loyal to Trump, such as Matt Gaetz and Greene. He reiterated to me that he's still planning on doing this and plans are moving forward. We also talked about the ways that conservative Christian culture has fallen short in this moment, and how Kinzinger -- who is unabashed about his own Christian faith -- thinks the American church got to this point.Outro music: "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" by Steely Dan Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/thelonggame.See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Kinzinger joined David to talk about what he sees as his battle to restore the Republican Party, what happens when leaders are more concerned with fame than policy, the evil he felt on Jan. 6 and whether he has future plans for statewide office. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy
