Standard Issue Podcast
Dr Jess Taylor is a feminist psychologist, founder and owner of VictimFocus, and author of essential read, Why Women Are Blamed For Everything – an exploration of the many reasons women are blamed for male violence. Because aren't we just? She chats to our Mick about ‘victim’ versus ‘survivor’, how education and the media are letting us all down, and unpicking the tangle of reasons that leads us to blame women for sexual violence committed against them.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. We had a great conversation with Jess Taylor on The Chris & Sandy Show. We interviewed her back in either 2014 or 2015 so this was our 2nd time. We talked about so many things from God, family, music, sacrifices and so much more. It was really cool that we got to bring her on the show on the day of her single release! made it that more special. Click the play button to listen to the podcast.
P - Pineapple on Pizza (Unpopular Food Opinions) (w/ Callum Price, Jack Kendrick, Jess Taylor & Tom Phillips)
Has anything split this world more than pineapple on pizza? The battle between those who like the sweet, juicy fruit proudly adorning the world's greatest food item and children has been fought for years with neither side willing to submit. Joining me in hopes of quelling the war are Callum Price, Jack Kendrick, Jess Taylor and Tom Phillips, as we also talk about our own food quirks, including Marmite, gherkins, milkshake and chips, and other controversial pizza toppings such as tuna and banana. Recorded 19th February 2018.
B - The Big Bang Theory (w/ Jess Taylor & Reid Drummond)
If Comedy Central had Two and a Half Men, and E4 had Friends, Channel 4 had The Big Bang Theory. The 'aren't nerds just so wacky?' sitcom aired from 2007-2019, accruing a loyal fanbase that were devoted to the shenanigans of Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, Howard, Penny, and later, Amy and Bernadette. I was not a member of this loyal fanbase. Nor was I ever going to be. Defending TBBT's honour is our fun-noise-generator Jess Taylor and to play peacekeeper/Devil's advocate (I feel like he likes to play both) is Reid Drummond via Skype. We look at the actual comedy in the show, the relationships that build across the show's duration, characters and the idea that the geek gets the girl. Recorded 30th December 2017.
Are We All Just Pervs?: Jess Taylor Talks Female Desire and Taboo
Fainting Couch Feminists
Jess Taylor's new short story collection, "Just Pervs," explores women's desire and sexual taboo in strange, wonderful, necessary ways. In this ep, Jess and Mica talk about why we rarely think of women when we think of "pervs," and why hyper-sexuality is still viewed as sexual deviance when coming from women. Jess also chats about the challenges of presenting as bisexual, visible vs. invisible injury, her drag persona Dick Anderson (!!), and why she's never been afraid to talk about sex.
