ATP Extra Episode 43 - Tony Cottee

Across The Park Podcast

On an Everton FC special extra, Ian Mills & Andrew Price are joined by one of their first heroes in the blue shirt, a man who scored 99 goals over a 6 year period for the blues, Tony Cottee. Tony tells us how he decided to leave London and resist offers from Arsenal to join Colin Harvey's Everton in 1988 and his memories of him and newer players entering the dressing room of the disbanding mid 80's side. We ask about his memories working under Colin and the unique situation of feeling he let Colin down when he lost his job, only to see him return days later as Howard Kendall's number 2. His relationship with Howard is talked about in detail, as well as tales from Chinese meals he had to fund, and his memories of playing with great players such as Neville Southall, Graeme Sharpe and Peter Beardsley. Tony gives us his thoughts on Billy Kenny during a sad time at the club as well as his memories of the unity in the city during the 1989 FA cup final after the tragic Hillsborough disaster. No questions are off topic as we ask what went wrong during Mike Walker's time at the club, and what it was like being on the pitch during THAT Wimbledon game, when the blues stared relegation in the face. His departure is covered, and how he felt just missing out on teaming with Duncan Ferguson under Joe Royle as well as his best memories, and message to Evertonians today. A must listen for all blues!

125: Ta-ta Tottenham ft. West Ham legend Tony Cottee

We Are West Ham Podcast

West Ham beat bitter rivals Tottenham 2-1 at London Stadium on Sunday to move FOURTH in the Premier League. FOURTH! Whether the Hammers can cling on to that last Champions League place remains to be seen but these moments have been at least five years in the waiting since the move from Upton Park and every West Ham fan deserves to enjoy them. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to revel in the glow of a victory over Spurs and also to chat just how far this team can go under David Moyes. The boys heap praise on Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Jesse Lingard, Lukasz Fabianski and David Moyes after a win that meant so much to the team and the fans. West Ham’s legendary former striker Tony Cottee dials in for an exclusive interview to celebrate, reminisce and look ahead to the Irons’ visit to Man City. And he also calls on the club to extend Mark Noble’s contract for another year to ensure he gets a proper send off from fans. The lads make their picks for this week’s Betway charity bets after Tom came agonisingly close against Spurs. And Man City fan Ste Tudor joins the lads to look ahead to Saturday’s clash with the Hammers at the Etihad.  Will is in the hot-seat for popular quiz Name That Game.  And the lads reflect on a quiet week for the West Ham Women. 108: New contracts for everyone! - with legend Tony Cottee

We Are West Ham Podcast

Take yourself back to after the Newcastle defeat and remember how you felt before that horrid run of fixtures that followed. Horrible, wasn't it? But what was all the fuss about? We've only lost once in the league since then and have instead played like what we can only describe as a proper looking football team. For once. So it's positivity all around as we take eight points from our opening six fixtures into a tough trip to Anfield, but when you've avoided defeat against top sides like Man City, Wolves and Leicester beforehand, facing the Premier League champions doesn't seem so difficult. James and Will aren't joined by Tom this week, as he's been at a family wedding in Portugal, but they did manage to sub in a late, yet pretty special replacement. None other than West Ham legend and ex-goal machine Tony Cottee! Cottee joined the lads for the bulk of this week's episode, where he gives his views on the season so far, demands new contracts for two people at the club in particular and has a go at raising some money with the Betway Charity bets! Please SUBSCRIBE to the podcast if you don't already and a big hello to all our new listeners. Follow us on Twitter HERE and WATCH the show and subscribe to our YouTube here.
