An episode for the moms and dads of the world. Touring for a living presents some interesting challenges to parenting, so we thought it would be fun to have some dads on the cast to talk about the joys of parenting. We get into a whole range of topics, from the difficulties of trying to have family out on tour, to large, existential questions that Chris and Dan grapple with as parents. This is a public episode. My guest this week is one of my most beloved friends AND the most requested drummer so far: Dan Searle of Architects. We try and talk about drums but mostly we talk about the good old days when I was his drum tech, borrowing snare drums from Napalm Death, and I guess we talk a bit about their upcoming album Holy Hell. I also hypothesise what Dave Grohl could do to get his edge back.
Dan Searle, drummer with UK band Architects, talks about the loss of his twin brother Tom Searle, guitarist and songwriter for Architects. Its been a little over six months since Tom passed away due to cancer. On the eve of the bands North American tour Dan Searle contacted me about coming on Someone Who Isn't Me to discuss Tom's illness and its aftermath and how that informed their latest album 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us'. We spoke about how this has profoundly affected not only him and the rest of the band, but also the bands fanbase, what the future holds for the band, the beginnings of new music and moving forward. Its seems he's received a lot of requests to do interviews, but decided he'd like to come on the podcast and discuss these things in one place, so that there is a point of reference for anyone wanting to know the situation. As I say in the introduction, I'm aware people will transcribe this and share it in different ways, but please be respectful to everyone involved. 100 Words Or Less: The Podcast
Tom Searle passed away this weekend after a two year battle with cancer. It destroyed me to hear this and I had to publish a VERY early episode I did with Tom and his brother Dan to show how much life Tom had inside of him and frankly, how much I loved the guy. Please listen, enjoy and tell someone close to you that you love them. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
