B2B Marketing And The Long Game with CloudCall's James Marscheider and Daniel Fox
Beer With Marketeers
In this episode of Beer With Darren, I hosted two guests, James Marscheider and Daniel Fox about their excitement for B2B marketing and working with their sales team to see the long game of marketing efforts. James is the Marketing Director at CloudCall after working in marketing for 20 years. After graduating with a business degree, James found himself in the marketing industry as the 'no wrong answer' sector. Daniel is the Channel Marketing Director at CloudCall after entering the industry around 20 years ago in consumer goods giving him a good background in product and brand management. Talking the difference between B2B and B2C, marketers have a decision to make and for James, B2B is more of a challenge due to tighter resources, lack of feedback, and the many buyer personas involved in the purchasing decision. With B2B marketing you have a greater audience to convince to part with cash and the challenge is even tougher in the current climate. You can't see people shopping for your product which makes B2B even more challenging as the essence of marketing is understanding your customer. You must then build relationships, visit companies, talk to the different personas, and talk to your sales team to fully understand your prospects. James and Daniel advise me on how to measure my new marketing efforts with debates on LinkedIn questioning whether revenue is really a fair evaluation. If a marketer gets 100 leads that turn into no sales why should their bonus be affected by a lacking sales team? The marketing team should surely be evaluated on their ability to get good MQL not how the sales team then converts them - assuming they are good MQL's.
Daniel Fox is a filmmaker, music curator, cosmic coordinator, and deep lover of humans who also happens to also be my partner. The son of a Southern Baptist preacher, Daniel grew up deeply formed by evangelical conditioning in the Deep South: toxic masculinity, the eternal threat of hell, overt racism, sports as religion, rabid materialism, sexual shame, and so much fear. He talks about the suicidal depression that overtook his life when he finally left the only community he had ever known and speaks publicly for the first time about coming to terms with childhood trauma that he spent many years trying to avoid. He honors the many teachers including hiphop artists, powerful women, and entheogens like cannabis and mushrooms that offered him a path to reconnection with himself and divine wisdom, and helped him find the grace to see his parents and their culture with new perspective. He now walks with others emerging from religious trauma in confronting harm, breaking cycles of abuse, and making meaning on their own terms. His book Feel the Wild is available now in bookstores and online.

How to get altitude on values to create deeper connections - Daniel Fox
The Primal Happiness Show
This week's show is with Daniel Fox. Daniel Fox founded what became an 8-figure business with hundreds of employees only to find himself purposeless and disconnected from his passion, personal transformation. Practicing for over 12 years, he now coaches committed world-changers to turn their passions into thriving and fulfilling careers. In this show, we spoke about how worldviews (or value-stages) are hierarchical, from survival and tribal views to post modern and beyond. We explored what each value-stage is about, how to understand and bridge the gap with people who are at each stage, how to lead and communicate with them with the aim of creating unity and empathy and ultimately the changes and expansion we want to see in the world. This is especially relevant at this time, when many people are experiencing safety and security needs and are therefore going to be more present to lower levels on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and are therefore at a lower value-stage at the moment. If you're anyone who wants to create more meaningful, intimate connection with (especially if you're any kind of leader or change-worker) being present to other's current value-stage will make us so much more effective at meeting them where they're at.
