The Grand View Vikings Wrestling is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and have won the NAIA Wrestling Championship 8 consecutive years from 2012 to 2019. Grand View University is a small private liberal arts university that offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Des Moines, Iowa. About Nick Mitchell Mitchell has built a dynasty from the ground up. As the Head Wrestling Coach, Nick Mitchell started the first-ever wrestling team at Grand View University. The program began in the 2008-2009 season. Over the last 10 years, the Vikings have become a perennial power. Although the Vikings have become one of the nation's elite teams by consecutively winning the last seven. NAIA National Championships, Mitchell's goals have not changed. "We want to continue to strive to be the best in the nation year after year. To do this, it takes a total team effort. Every guy on the team needs to be committed to living a championship lifestyle which means not only trying to be the best on the mat, but the best in all aspects of their lives. If they do that, winning will take care of itself.” Before coming to Grand View, Mitchell was an assistant coach at Wartburg College for eight years. In that span, he helped 62 athletes achieve All-American status. Additionally, four of those teams won National titles. Mitchell wrestled his college career at Wartburg where he was a three-time Iowa Conference champion and three-time NCAA Division III All-American. Individually, he finished second at the national championships once and was third twice. Mitchell was also a part of the 1999 national championship team and team captain for the Knights. He was named the team's Outstanding Wrestler twice compiling 114 wins as a Knight. Mitchell is now a member of the Wartburg College Athletic Hall of Fame. He resides in Ankeny with his wife, Rachelle, and daughters Brynn and Paige. This podcast represents Dr. Barron Bremner and Dr. Jason Sullivan's opinions and their guests on the show. Nick is well known for his caricature work, specifically, the zombie type. After 20 years of drawing, those zombies opened the door for him to the tattoo world.“I used to travel around the country from convention to convention drawing people as exaggerated, goofy looking zombies,” Nick says. “We would work horror conventions, comic-cons and then the game changer… tattoo conventions.”
