EP 265- GM Simon Williams- (aka The Ginger GM) returns

Perpetual Chess Podcast

GM SImon William, aka “The Ginger GM”  is an entertaining and popular commentator, YouTube Creator, Twitch streamer, and, of course, prolific Chessable course creator (often collaborating with IM Richard Palisser). Simon also recently launched a chess platform, called GChess, which allows you to store and analyze your games and to work on openings using many popular chess resources. It had been 5 years since I had done a long-form interview with SImon, so it was great to catch up with him on the topics of his OTB plans, current opening trends, the British chess scene, his latest Chessable course, and, of course, many amusing anecdotes from Simon’s decades around top-level chess. Episode # 221 Demolition Man with Simon Williams and David Trumble from You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat film quiz

Flixwatcher: A Netflix Film Review Podcast

Simon Williams (You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat film quiz) and David Trumble (artist/cartoonist/illustrator) return to Flixwatcher remotely to review Simon’s choice Demolition Man. Demolition Man is 1993 sci-fi action comedy film starring Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan (The Demolition Man), Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix and Sandra Bullock as Lieutenant Lenina Huxley. In the year 2032, Spartan and Phoenix are cryogenically frozen after the events in 1996 where hostages were killed and in this future crime has been eradicated in the newly formed San Angeles (a merger of Los Angeles, San Diego, and Santa Barbara). After Phoenix is thawed during a parole hearing and escapes, Spartan is thawed to chase him down and in doing so leaves a trail of demolition. Primarily an action film, Demolition Man is also very funny and quite ridiculous, the myth of the purpose of the three seashells lives on today and holds up as a satire still today.   [supsystic-tables id=233] Demolition Man was a popular rewatch for Flixwatcher and guests and it scored highly on recommendability but less high on engagement to score a very respectable 4.05 overall. The Love Over Fear Podcast

This episode connects us with Simon Williams. Simon is a former Australian Institute of Sport and NSW Institute of Sport athlete who has always been fascinated with the 'inner' game - that of the Mind and its power over the construction or destruction of our future. Having spent the past 20+ years coaching and facilitating people's personal & professional growth, Simon has developed an innovative and extremely powerful new coaching program that takes a participants' mindset & performance to the next level. The Talent Ascension Program (TAP) is Simon's answer to the prayers he had as a 22-year-old athlete wanting to know how to succeed as a professional athlete. Formulated from his 20+ years of experience, as well as, the concepts, tools and strategies he's learnt from some of the most successful high-performers in the world, the Talent Ascension Program is a one-of-a-kind program that supports aspiring, amateur and current professionals desiring the NEW competitive advantage. The Autumn II Intake for the TAP closes on April 19.The highlight from our conversation for me was Simons sharing of trust and how we can use trust as a tool to help move forward in the direction of our dreams and goals. If we don't trust ourselves, how will we ever be brave enough to try new things and push the envelope? This was a great new awareness for me and got me thinking about ways in which I can build trust within myself and the people around me to help elevate my life experience. Simon also has a podcast called The Mapplife Podcast where he sits down with some of the most high-achieving and highly-skilled & respected people on the planet to discuss mindset, performance and mental health. Ep 38 - Simon Williams

Passion and Perspective Podcast

Simon Williams is a High-Performance Mindset coach at Motivation & Performance Partners (M&PP), a business he founded to help aspiring athletes achieve success at the top-level. The ingrained desire to help others succeed has long been the driving force behind Simon’s work and has played a large part in shaping where he is today. “I’ve always found myself being drawn to supporting others, empowering others and inspiring others,” Simon said. “(The mission is to have) more people tasting achievement…more people tasting what it’s like to perform at their best." The dream to wear the Baggy Green – to represent his country in cricket – was a very real dream for Simon as he made his way in NSW under-age teams, the AIS cricket academy and all the while churning out runs for his beloved Penrith Cricket Club. Cricket, and the personal growth that comes with it, inspired the love for the game and has helped shape the purpose behind M&PP. “I would think…‘How can I be better than I was yesterday?’ That was always part of my mindset (in cricket) …there is always room for me to grow…there is always room for me to be better,” Simon said. Episode 74 – Simon Williams – DMW Group

Climb In Consulting

Welcome to the first episode of Climb In Consulting for 2021.In today’s episode I speak to Simon Williams, Co-Founder of DMW Group and Non-Executive Director at LanciaConsult.Simon spent the vast majority of his career building DMW Group, which he and the team grew from just two of them, after a rather interesting start to the business, into a company of over 200 consultants today.Having spent 27 years growing DMW, Simon now advises a range of businesses and is a trustee to his old university college. One of these businesses is LanciaConsult and is how Simon came to being on the podcast, having been introduced by LanciaConsult’s Managing Partner Jeff Cronkshaw following our interview for this show.As you’d expect from someone who spent so long at the helm of a consulting business, Simon has wealth of experience when it comes to growing a successful consulting firm and leading through both the good times and the bad, much like where we find ourselves right now with the Covid-19 pandemic. In this interview Simon shares many of the insights that he’s learnt from his time building DMW and goes in to detail on many of the unorthodox elements of the DMW journey including:- Why DMW almost failed before it got started, and how Simon went from one of the most junior members of the team to leading the business in just a few short years.- DMW’s approach to partnering and why they decided to take the unusual route of collaborating with other boutique consulting firms to help them all win more business.- And Simon’s advice for navigating challenging times, like the ones we’re in now. How DMW was able to overcome multiple recessions and his advice for helping your business to do the same.If you’re currently planning your personal or corporate goals for 2021 and want to know what you can do to take your career or your business to the next level, or simply the steps you should take to ensure your business comes out of the other side of the recession as stable as possible, then I know you’re going to get so much from what Simon shares in today’s conversation. You can get in touch with Simon at – https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonjw/Or – simonwilliams@peakflow.zoneVisit DMW Group at – https://www.dmwgroup.com/Visit his website at – https://www.peakflow.zone/Specific things we discussed in the show:Bounce: The Myth of Talent and the Power of Practice by Matthew Syed – https://amzn.to/2LrbXQXBlack Box Thinking: Marginal Gains and the Secrets of High by Matthew Syed – https://amzn.to/35ymsJoMihaly Csikszentmihalyi – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi
