Welcome to the first rewind episode for July 2021. It's an episode that has been previously. released - my chat with Perth author Tess Woods. Tess is the three novels, Love at First Flight (2015), Beautiful, Messy Love (2017) and Love and Other Battles (2019). In addition to being an author Tess is a physiotherapist, a mentor and a writing teacher. She has two children, and manages to fir so much into her very busy life. This is an edited version of my original chat with Tess, done at the time she was about to release her third book Love and Other Battles, and is all about where Tess gets her inspiration, her writing process, the bits she loves about writing and the bits she hates. It's a fun, chatty interview to start off our month of rewinds while I take a break from recording new episodes to get some writing time and do some podcasts preparation for the second half of the year. Leveraging Thought Leadership
Writing a book is hard, but selling a book is even harder. You can make that task easier by hiring a good PR person but how will you know if the fit is right? What questions should you ask? What is the publishing house going to do for you? These are all important questions but what do the right answers look like? Our guest Tess Woods is an entrepreneurial leader with 20+ years of experience in strategy, branding, thought leadership, and hands-on campaign development who has been featured in The New York Times, Bloomberg Business Week, and Forbes Peter and Tess discuss why you need to set your expectations for sales, have a marketing plan in place, and be building your followership well in advance. Along with those topics Tess gives expertise on finding a PR person that will fit your needs, understand your genre, and have success in the market your book will be in. If you want to understand what having a best-selling book means and why hitting that benchmark might not be that important for your goals you'll need to listen to this episode!
