Bitcoin Ossified? The Sound Money Debate with Jeff Garzik
My guest today is my friend Jeff Garzik. Jeff has long been at the center of developing and commercializing open source software related to Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Before co-founding Bloq to develop blockchain solutions for a multi-chain world, he spent five years as a Bitcoin core developer and ten years at Red Hat. His work with the Linux kernel is now found in every Android phone and data center running Linux today. Jeff serves on the advisory boards of BitPay, BitFury, Netki and WayPaver Labs. Jeff is currently the Chief Designer & the Co-founder of Vesper Finance. Vesper works as a "metalayer" for DeFi, routing deposits to highest yield opportunities within risk tolerance for the particular pool. Products are non-custodial and auto-compounding. Under-the-hood, Vesper enables a truly set-and-forget experience at scale through a unique approach that enables yield aggregating "strategies" to be upgraded, replaced, connected, and concurrent – all with no added burden on the end user. Jeff is also the CEO of Bloq, an enterprise blockchain solutions company he co-founded with industry investor Matt Roszak in 2015. The company’s solutions include end-to-end blockchain infrastructure service BloqEnterprise and tokenization venture studio BloqLabs. In our discussion, we cover Bitcoin's role within the broader crypto ecosystem, where innovation is headed in the space, regulation, and much more. Jeff discusses Bitcoin vs Ethereum debate, the sound money meme war over, and why Bitcoin's halving cycle is ingenious. We go on to discuss why cross-chain is the future, has innovation left Bitcoin, and the Path to Decentralization. Jeff goes on to analogize cryptocurrencies to social networks and discusses the importance of building tools that empower people. Jeff gives an excellent suggestion to regulators for dealing with the innovation within crypto. We finish our conversation discussing how Vesper empowers users and makes DeFi approachable and safe. Please enjoy my conversation with Jeff Garzik.--ParaSwap:If you want to make a swap at the best price across the DeFi market, check out https://untoldstories.link/paraswap. Jeff Garzik: Metronome – Of Bitcoin Satellites and Built-to-Last Chain-Hopping Tokens
Epicenter - Learn about Crypto, Blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Distributed Technologies
We’re joined by Jeff Garzik, who was among the very first developers to work with Satoshi in the early days of Bitcoin. Later, he was a core developer at Bitpay and even tried to put a Bitcoin node on a satellite in space. Today, he is co-founder at Bloq, a company providing enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure. Bloq recently announced a new project called Metronome that challenges some of the design and governance principles of many public blockchain networks. Metronome is cryptocurrency that sits on top of existing blockchains and aims to allow tokens to easily move from one network to the other. A series of standard blockchain contracts allow for daily descending price auctions to occur automatically, and for users to buy and sell the tokens using a Bancor-like system with built-in liquidity. Topics covered in this episode: Jeff’s background as a web developer at CNN and as a Linux developer His early days in Bitcoin working with Satoshi His thoughts on Bitcoin governance and lessons learned from the Segwit2X episode The lessons learned from founding Bloq What is Metronome and what problem does it aim to solve Metronome’s self-governance and how the system is meant to evolve The different smart contracts which make up Metronome How Metronome allows MTN tokens to move to different blockchains The economics of the protocol and the descending price auction system The upcoming Metronome token sale and development roadmap Episode links: Metronome: The Built-to-Last Cryptocurrency Metronome Owner's Manual Metronome FAQ Metronome Git Repo DSS - Dunvegan Space Systems, Inc The Long Now Foundation Bloq This episode is hosted by Brian Fabian Crain and Sébastien Couture. They are currently working with SpaceChain Foundation to put a blockchain node in space, which will allow for multi-tenant platforms to be run on satellites. They are also working on a decentralized cryptocurrency called Metronome, a self-governing cryptocurrency that does not hold any keys. Another project that he is excited about is working with local autonomous AIs that help reduce pollution and increase energy efficiency by rewarding actions that benefit the local community and the region as a whole. Jeff also discusses who he thinks Satoshi Nakamoto is, and his thoughts on the unique position that he holds in the cryptocurrency and blockchain spaces. For more information, visit www.bloq.com.

The Bitcoin Game 26 - Jeff Garzik The Future of Bitcoin
The Bitcoin Game
Hello, welcome to episode 26 of The Bitcoin Game, I'm Rob Mitchell. Back some months ago, Los Angeles had its first Bitcoin conference called The State Of Digital Money. Jeff Garzik (Bitcoin Core Developer for BitPay and CEO of Dunvegan Space Systems) was the featured speaker, and he gave a presentation called The Future of Bitcoin. I originally believed the presentation needed the accompanying visual slides, but after giving the audio of Jeff's presentation a fresh listen, I realized the audio is really good on its own. I even found it refreshing to hear a core developer speak on a variety of Bitcoin topics, without having to weigh in on the current contentious block size debate. So relax and enjoy this presentation by Jeff Garzik.
