Karolena & Melissa chat with great talent of our time Larry Owens (A Strange Loop, High Maintenance) about the depths of quar, exclusively positive thinking, comedy's rebirth and a particularly inspirational story of, dare we say, divine interference??? This one is so entirely feel good. Enjoy, besties!! @larryowenslive - @karobeanah - @melissa_rich__
This week, suburbanite Larry Owens joins George and Sam to unpack how bad acting is the fault of straightness 100% of the time, even when gay people do it. Plus, the gang explores a working theory that 2010 is back based almost solely on the fact that apartments are cheaper in Williamsburg now. Don't believe us? Well good, because we're not sure we believe us either. It's a working theory after all.
You guys asked us to get an Oral Roberts alumni so we had no choice but to go out and get one! Former ORU star Larry Owens is in the house and what better time to have him on than during the incredible cinderella run to the Sweet 16 by the Golden Eagles? We get to catch up with Larry, learn about his hoops journey, and hear his thoughts on his Alma Mater’s NCAA tournament performance. Owens started his college career by going the JuCo route. After being Top 10 in scoring and rebounding at the Junior College level, he signed with Oral Roberts where he won MCC Defensive Player of the Year and helped lead ORU to an NCAA tournament appearance in 2006. After not hearing his name called in the NBA Draft, he spent time between the D-League and Overseas before finding his way in the NBA. He even helped his team to a championship appearance in the TBT. He’s truly seen it all and has always been a team-first guy, which is why he has always found a place in basketball. Even today he’s found his place on the sidelines as a coach. BIG thanks to Larry for taking the time to hang out with us. It was a joy learning all about the grind to reach his goals and it's an inspiring message for any young hooper coming up and trying to find their way whether it be JuCo, a four-year, or professionally. He shares some great stories about his time at ORU, NCAA tournament, playing overseas, Scott Sutton, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, coaching and MUCH more. One thing we have learned this month… those Oral Roberts boys are tough and never give up…even the OG’s.Thank You Larry Owens!Be sure to support Larry’s club team! The passion he has for the game and the love those girls play with is well worth supporting. Larry Owens is our first ever Pulitzer Prize-winning guest! Okay, the award technically went to the play Strange Loop, of which he is the breakout star (and award winner himself), but who's counting? Even if he weren't one of the fastest rising stars in New York, you'd still fall in love with Larry. Also, Brent, Eliot and H. Alan check in with the community hit hardest by Coronavirus: Instagays.
