Boundaries with Emma Langton aka the Boundary Queen

Today I Am Sober

On this episode we're talking all things, boundaries: what they are, how to create them and what to do when they're not serving you. Now I want to warn you and make something super clear. You don't have to have therapy to sort out your boundaries because you may listen to this episode and think, Arrghh, Liz needs therapy! Perhaps I do need some more therapy, but perhaps you may think: “Oh my God, I need therapy too!” Emma wanted me to make sure that we were super clear with you, just in case it doesn't come through the show, that you do not need to have therapy to sort out your boundaries. When your emotions start to bubble up, we're going to keep to the facts. The other thing I have to warn you is that if you're not Gen X like Emmo and I are, you may be a millennial or Gen Z (you were born after 1995) there's all kinds of references in this podcast that you simply might not get for that. I don't apologize. We are women of a certain age and we grew up with certain technology that for those of you that are a lot younger than us will think: “Oh my God, how did you manage?”. Well guess what kids, we did! Enjoy the show. Episode 28 - Setting boundaries in your business - Emma Langton

The Simply Marketing Show

Setting boundaries in your business - Emma Langton Emma, in her own words, is a straight-talking business mindset coach. In this episode, we talk about how she built her business around her family and how creating scarcity with their clients and being very mindful of her time actually helped her to grow.  After adopting her lovely girls she became aware that being able to work flexibly was going to be crucial to her new family.  Her new family journey was the catalyst to her new career as she learned more about how she could help the children she became fascinated with mindset and decided to retrain in hypnotherapy and coaching.  Emma went on to set up her own business renting a room for one day a week and niching down, specifically helping people suffering from anxiety in the workplace. She purposely niched from the beginning, building a business that worked for the family and setting boundaries from the outset. Emma stuck to the routine of working only in specific office times and didn’t take work home with her, keeping her home life completely separate from her business so not impact the family. Emma talks about how building scarcity into her business really worked! Only being available at certain times, as she built her business around a family, actually help the business to grow.  The structure that Emma built into her business actually became a safe space for her clients who appreciated the boundaries that she set.  Emmas tips: Set tight deadlines and focus on individual aspects during the day Don’t make a song and dance about school holidays just tell your clients you won’t be available or your diary is fully booked Overcome overwhelmed by getting everything out of your head and down on paper Prioritise things you need to do first and set yourself achievable goals It’s okay to change your business model to work around your life as your business grows More about Emma Langton  Emma is a leadership coach and workplace trainer.  She works with individuals and organisations across the UK, focusing on improving performance without stress, doubt or overwhelm.  Having spent over 20 years with people at the top of corporate business, in national and international companies, she knows what it feels like to work under pressure. SLS049 Selling Every Day with Emma Langton

Smart Leaders Sell Podcast

**I am now over on the Selling To Corporate Podcast: http://bit.ly/Apple-Selling-To-Corporate-Podcast. Head on over if you are interested in adding a corporate revenue stream to your business** Have you ever considered starting a podcast? My podcast producer and I have put together everything you need to know to get your very own podcast off the ground! Check out Podcasting That Pays today: http://bit.ly/Podcasting-That-Pays! Jessica welcomes the Queen of Boundaries, Emma Langton to Smart Leaders Sell! The two get deep into the topics of Boundaries, Sales and Mindset immediately after the intro. It gets informative fast, so have that glass of wine ready before you hit play. Her Sales Question: How do we sell every single day? Jess names the first part of the process as automation, and breaks it down to it's simplest form. She explains that putting a link to your book, or your product, or service in the caption of your profile banner is still a form of passive sales. Jess also describes the value in reacting to the demands and needs of the people who follow you. People show up, show interests, ask for the solutions and then get hacked off when nothing comes out of it. If you delay long enough, they go elsewhere and get their problems sorted. Jess explains how to go about fixing that. Really clear calls to action are key, and carefully mapping out each step of your customer's experience will help you fill it all in. One you've done the market research, what then? They go into depth about processes, and bring it all the way back to where we started: boundaries. Quotes “It's not about the boundary itself, it's about how I feel as a person” “I always call it the necessary evil” “You don't want to be friends with everyone” “One comment does not a business make” “Please world, go and tell us what you're doing” “If we're not confident, they can't be” “The worst that can happen is someone says no” Emma! www.emmalangton.com And for Jess!
