Getting Organized + The Power of Sharing Your Story with Mika Perry
The Within Her Podcast
My heart behind this podcast is the belief that when we share our stories, God uses them to show up in the lives of others. Today’s guest is the perfect example of someone who lives that out. Mika Perry is a former professional organizer, mama of three and host of the Good to Be Home Podcast. On her blog, her podcast + now in today’s episode, Mika has gotten vulnerable about her husband’s affair, how God used it to better their marriage + bring Him glory, and why she decided to share her story. Mika also shared her practical tips for getting started with organization and why it’s important to start small. She gives us an inside look at her morning routine, a topic she also offers courses on. Changing the Course
Mika Perry is put-together, organized, thoughtful, smiling almost picture-perfect. But things are not always what they seem. Several years ago, Mika found out her husband was cheating on her and her world almost fell apart. She wanted to crawl into a corner and not come out but she had a new baby and a husband she did love. Slowly Mika put the pieces back together and in this intimate podcast, she details just how she got through one of the hardest times of her life. When your husband has an affair your world comes crashing down. Life as you know it ceases to exist, but Mika Perry created a new life and in doing so she uncovered pieces of herself she had never known. Mika Perry describes her life now as better than ever and she attributes much of her growth and happiness to the very difficult time period post-affair. You can grow from trials and tribulations if you want to, Mika Perry proves that and much more! Listen to our interview and you will find out how to create goodness from disaster.
99: Organization, Routine And Overcoming Infidelity With Mika Perry
On today’s podcast, I speak with Mika Perry, a Mom of three girls (ages 4 - 14), a lifestyle blogger, a Podcast Host of the Good to be Home Podcast which she co-hosts with her husband and a former Professional Organizer. Mika is an incredibly creative and talented woman who initially found her passion for organizing through her love of being creative within any sized space. Once she became a Mom, organization became something that helped to change the outcome of everything she was doing; the more organized she was, the more the overwhelm would start to dissolve and she could feel in control of her life again. Implementing these techniques in her life, led her to wanting to help others implement them in theirs as well. We talk all things organization and overcoming hardships in marriage in today’s episode - keep reading to find out more about Mika’s story of courageousness through self-development work and routine.Mika shares that organization for each person looks different. It’s tailored to their lifestyle and what causes the most overwhelming for them personally. In general, she does recommend to start out with shifting your mindset; let go of the limiting beliefs that organization is too hard or too time-consuming or too expensive for example. These are all excuses holding you back from moving forward. The second is to start small. Instead of thinking about organizing an entire space, focus on small things within the room; what specifically in these rooms is frustrating you most right now, and start there. For example, start with organizing a drawer or a small shelf in the room. Really inexpensive small changes can make a big difference in the way you feel.In 2012, in the midst of holding their 2-month old baby girl, Mika found out her husband was having an affair. In this moment, she shares she felt like the rug got pulled from underneath her. She also realized that no matter what conspired following those moments, her life would be different from then on. In the beginning of trying to navigate through the situation, she talks about feeling like she had no guidance of what she should do in the situation because it was shameful and she felt embarrassed to talk about it, and there was also not a large community (like there is now on social media) to reach out to for support. She goes on to say that it’s still not easy for them every day, but it taught them to be honest with themselves. If we’re not able to be honest with ourselves, we will eventually get to the point of pain and fear - and then worse, not knowing who we are any more so we run and turn to unhealthy habits to hide the struggle. Investing in working on themselves as individuals and as a couple to come back to their faith and their truth is what helped them move forward.Mika has two courses which are available for purchase at anytime! She has a Morning and Night Routine Course as well as an Organization Masterclass. They are designed to help you learn the fundamentals of organization and the strategies she personally developed and used to mange time, clutter, travel and all of the things in life! She also co-hosts the Good to Be Home Podcast with her husband and this is all about business and life including things like: marriage, family, entrepreneurship, sobriety, productivity, organization, and so much more!Get in touch with Mika:Podcast: Good to be HomeInstagram: @mikaperry The Mika Perry Blog: https://mikaperry.com/category/blog/Routines and Organization Courses: https://mikaperry.mykajabi.com/sales-pageWebsite: mikaperry.comToday's Commercials:Take some time for yourself and invest in my at home workout videos.
