Secular Sexuality 08.40 10-14-2021 with Christy Powell and Andy Lane
If you grew up believing that you were inherently sinful and had fallen short of the glory of god or were told that your thoughts were disgustingly perverted you are, among many other things, the perfect SecX fan. Still no one could blame you for wanting to keep some of that in the dark no matter how sex positive you’ve worked to be. Learning to accept our shadow self is at the heart of Jungian psychology, but what can that seemingly mystical science of the last century offer us today? Andy Lane returns to the show to teach Christy about the mysteries of sex and shadow, plus your calls and what’s turning us on this week! - Find what’s turning us on and more shownotes at https://www.vcatx.com/media/shadow

Secular Sexuality 08.26 07-08-21 with Christy Powell, Dr. Darrel Ray, and Andy Lane
Finding a good therapist is hard- half the counselors on TV are weirdo crackpots, the other half are frauds and yet somehow I’d rather tell my secrets to most of them than half of the faces and blurbs I find on the internet. Dr. Crane? Dr. Jacoby? Dr. Lectur? Hold up- is my therapist supposed to be a doctor? With all the many ways religion, love and life can leave us nicked and cut it’s no wonder that many of us are looking for a healing professional, but which one? And why? This week SecX’s resident sex therapist Christy Powell is joined by counselors Dr. Darrel Ray and Andy Lane in a conversation about therapy, therapists and the hunt. It’s matchmaking for your brain plus your questions and calls on this week's Secular Sexuality!
Andy Lane is a Professor of Sport Psychology and works with athletes trying to achieve goals. He is a Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), Health Professional Council registered and a British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist. -- Great for runners, coaches, teachers and anyone who encourages others to be active. In a typically relaxed conversation, Andy talks about training and running in lockdown before getting into a range of different strategies and techniques that we can all use to get the most out of our activities. The tools that peak performers use are equally applicable to amateur athletes and exercisers. We should be encouraging the use of these tools and practices, and most definitely teaching kids in school how to apply them to deal with stress and anxiety. 1k, 10k, marathon, ultramarathon, whatever your thing, thinking about how you train, deal with injury and look after yourself will make the difference when it comes to the longevity of your running career. Listen in and let us know what you think -- thanks as ever. You can connect with Andy on Twitter where he posts articles and jokes. He is usually on the UKRunChat hour (Sun & Weds at 8pm #ukrunchat). His website is Winning Lane.
