WP Welcomes BloodHorse Lenny Shulman and 'Capper Andrew Champagne
Lenny Shulman is tapping his breaks on his day-to-day duties at the BloodHorse and charting a path that will keep his many talents on display in the media – at his own pace. We’ll talk to Lenny about his life covering the racing game and his recently published book about the meteoric rise and success of Triple Crown winner Justify. “Lenny whose prolific writing has lifted the bar at Blood-Horse to new heights, is taking a step back from his day-to-day role as features editor. Thankfully, he’ll stay on to write a pair of features a month.Andrew Champagne is a well-known handicapper who has served in many capacities in thoroughbred racing. He will join John to discuss the upcoming season and the top stories from 2019. Then it is on to the analysis of Saturday only Graded stakes races - at Gulfstream Park there are two on the turf the Marshua's River Stakes (G3) and the Tropical Turf (G3) and at Santa Anita they are featuring La Canada Stakes (G3) and the Las Cienegas Stakes (G3).

Lenny Shulman author and now humorist has a new feature called Lenny's Place that airs on the Blood-Horse website. In a new and different twist he does a stand up comedy act touching on all aspects of racing and then follows with an interview with a major racing personality. A very refreshing and unique perspective of the sport. Lenny is no stranger to comedy as he had worked with comedian Andrew Dice Clay on the feature film “Dice Rules” and on several HBO comedy specials. Lenny author of many books Ride of Their Lives, Long Way From Home and others, will tell us about his new venture in equine comedy. To Lenny's duties at The Blood-Horse, we can now add novelist. Lenny's great sense of humor comes across in this book while it weaves its way through intrigue. Our second guest is Byron King, columnist and handicapper from the Daily Racing Form. We will be handicapping three big points races for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. In the second segment Lenny Shulman of the Blood-Horse magazine, author of several horse racing books, and a successful writer/producer of many TV shows will join the host in focusing on the 3-year-old races leading up to the Derby, the Tampa Bay Derby, the Swale Stakes, the San Felipe Stakes and the Palm Beach Stakes.

He will give us first hand account of what happened on Friday and Saturday Nov. 4th and 5th. He will recap for us the winners and losers, and what impact those results will have on the different Awards categories. Ralph Siraco is a former track announcer who turned turf writer. He currently hosts the racing broadcast Race Day Las Vegas. He will tell us how he got involved in horse racing and a little about the journey that took him to Race Day Las Vegas.
