Episode 6: Grow Through What You Go Through with Josh Levine
Not Your Quick Fix
In today’s episode, Kara and Kylie are talking to personal trainer and online coach, Josh Levine. Kylie, Kara, and Josh first became friends through the coach that they share (Team Mihaly), and now often collaborate through their shared business mentorship with Jason Phillips as well. Josh joins the show to discuss the theme of his podcast (The Struggle to Strength Podcast): overcoming adversity, and finding the opportunity within each obstacle. As a child, Josh was very accident prone and often injured. He has also struggled with anxiety and depression since his teenage years, but never let this stop him. Through all of this, Josh has learned that he can always get back up and keep going. After a surgery in 2017 led to a life-threatening, severe infection, and thus a second emergency, surgery; Josh was forced to take a break from all of the things that brought him peace and happiness. He dropped a lot of muscle and strength during this time, but most of all, really struggled mentally.Through this episode, Josh shares how he used this experience to propel him forward in every aspect of his life (especially within his career path and his personal fitness goals). His story serves as a great reminder to never give up, and let each loss be a lesson. Josh Levine believes in great Mondays. Every employee can feel energized and ready to go to work each week by clearly defining their purpose. Purpose is more than earning a paycheck, it’s being interested in the work you are doing, understanding why you are doing it, and bringing energy to the big idea you are serving. When you understand your purpose, the tedious work you do has a reason…even on Mondays. In this episode, Josh asks us all a relevant question: with all of this disruption in the workplace, is your purpose still relevant? This is employee engagement in the digital workplace. If your purpose is still clearly defined and relevant, it doesn’t matter if you are in the office or not. Employees can work from anywhere and be aligned on the reason why they are there. It’s a powerful tool for driving performance and productivity. Thank you Josh for your timely insights as we built the future of work. Josh’s Book!
