Holly Rush is an ex-international road marathon runner turned ultra trail runner. She didn’t start running competitively until her late 20’s and started out as a fun runner. So in 2010 when she was selected to represented Great Britain at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona (18th and team Bronze) she couldn’t believe how far she had come. She went on to come 8th at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and has represented GB at the World Mountain Championships twice winning team silver and bronze. Holly has over 10 years of personal training under her belt, is a qualified sports therapist, level 2 run coach and has a masters degree in sports coaching. She is also the ASICS UK FrontRunner community manager. She is more likely to be found in the mountains these days. She ran her first 100 miler in 2017 and has gone on to do many mountain ultras including the UTMB, ran the Annapurna Circuit solo and climbed Mont Blanc. We went for a 4 mile shakeout along the Southbank before her pacing duties at the Asics 10k. Stay tuned for more special Post Run specials in the coming weeks. Thanks for listening Danny

The 30in30 Challenge | Social Networking with Purpose during the Pandemic with Holly Rush
OWA Talks Podcast
2020 was a year of many unexpected twists and turns. At the start of the pandemic, many of us were left asking....what does this all mean? When will it end? Is life ever going back to normal? The lack of certainty day to day left us feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. And I knew I wanted to help. The 30in30 challenge was designed as a social networking outreach effort. To create new connections during an unprecedented time and to help those new connections navigate uncertainty and emerge on the other side with a greater sense of clarity and calm.To get things going, I tapped 30 colleagues in my network and asked them to introduce me to 30 people in theirs who could benefit from professional support. Whether it was careers in transition, personal branding or strategic business questions and thought partnership - no problem was too big to tackle together. And the urgency was there to make an impact, fast. So the goal became 30 new connections in 30 days. What started as a relatively small outreach, became much larger than I could have imagined. And the result? Meaningful connections that yielded positivity in an otherwise uncertain time.Holly has nearly 30 years of leadership experience building strong consumer brands with well-known global companies such as Luxottica, L’Oreal and the Gillette Company. Most recently, she served as CEO for Costa del Mar, a cult brand of performance sunglasses and was previously, President of Luxottica Wholesale North America. In addition to nearly a decade in the Optical Industry, she has deep leadership experience in the Beauty, Fashion, Luxury and Outdoor sectors. She is a people and culture-first leader who is passionate about defining organizational purpose, galvanizing teams and developing next-gen leaders, especially women. She is also an active mentor, public speaker and non-profit board member.Along with her husband and two (now teenage!) children, she resides in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Holly has represented GB on a number of occasions over several running disciplines. We discuss what she has learnt through her career and what advice and support she now gives the athletes she coaches to be more sustainable and balanced.

Ep 187 - Holly Rush on running influencers, PBs and switching to ultras
Bad Boy Running
Boy, is Holly Rush an interesting guest in this episode of Bad Boy Running! (And Jody and David didn't make a single joke about nominative determinism!) Starting out in marathons as fun runner, Holly explains her journey from standing as a spectator watching with a beer to going all the way to the European Championships and representing England and Great Britain. She talks about her frustration at trying to beat a PB that just wouldn't fall and her eventual move into ultrarunning. That, in itself, is a fascinating story, but now Holly leads the Asics Frontrunner programme that brings on ordinary runners as ambassadors for the brand. David quizzes Holly on the programme and her thoughts about running social media influencers and the direction of the sport. And then the discussion turns to Marathon Talk for which Holly is a presenter. Enjoy! If you enjoyed this episode please SUBSCRIBE to get every episode delivered to you before everyone else.
