Robbie Hummel is from Valparaiso, Indiana, and graduated from Valparaiso High School as an Indiana All Star in 2007. He averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a senior. Robbie played basketball at Purdue University, graduating in 2012 with a degree in management. Robbie spent five years at Purdue (2007-08 through 2011-12), which saw him sidelined for the 2010-11 season due to a torn ACL. During his first three years at Purdue, the Boilermakers tallied a 81-25 record, advanced to three NCAA Tournaments, including the 2009 and 2010 NCAA Sweet Sixteen, and captured the 2009 Big Ten Tournament Title. Robbie played two seasons in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2013-14, 2014-15). He battled through injuries over the course of his professional career, which has seen Hummel sign contracts with the Denver Nuggets as well as professional teams in Italy, Russia and Spain. On October 4, 2017, Hummel announced he was retiring from professional basketball in order to become a studio analyst and color commentator for ESPN. But wait... He's back playing basketball! Robbie is currently a professional 3v3 basketball player and works for ESPN and the Big Ten Network as a studio analyst and color commentator. Robbie was set to represent the USA on the USA 3v3 Basketball Team in the 2020 Olympics, before it was postponed to 2021 due to the global pandemic. As a professional 3v3 player Robbie was named MVP of the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, MVP of the 2019 Red Bull USA Basketball 3v3 Nationals, and he was named the 2019 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.
