Ben Roy is a comedian, actor, and musician. He’s perhaps best known for Those Who Can’t, the TV show he starred in, co-created, and co-wrote with long-time collaborators Andrew Orvedahl and Adam Cayton-Holland. But Ben has also been fronting bands since he was 15 years old, and his interests run the gamut from the poetry of punk rock to obscure American history to the petty larceny of manipulating Columbia House’s ill-fated mail-order CD business. He also loves movie Westerns, Cat Stevens, and the joys of finding the exact right word to take a joke from good to great. It’s safe to say we cover a lot of ground here. And just like that, it's another episode of Something To Look Forward To. Enjoy. Get the full show notes here -- including songs, standup, videos, and more. Ep 4.1: Ben Roy & Claire Silver Announce Accelerate Art
The NFT Nick Show
In this special edition of the NFT Nick show I spoke with Claire Silver and Ben Roy to discuss their CryptoVoxels-based art gallery and the future of art. I consider myself a student of this emerging industry and found my conversation with Claire and Ben to be illuminating.
Ben Roy (Those Who Can’t, Grawlix Saves the World, SPELLS, 97.9 The Rat) joins host Mike O’Keefe and Headmaster Ken Hamlett to talk about skateboarding in Maine, the finer points of snitching and the punk scene. Ben Roy (Grawlix, Those Who Can’t) has never seen The Pelican Brief, but he rewrote it and we read his script. In what is perhaps our most emotionally moving script ever on the show, Kyle and Rebecca join Ben and his take on The Pelican Brief. Beforehand, Ben tells the story about getting an actual tattoo for one of Kyle’s other shows. Once you are done crying at Ben’s lovely script, please enjoy some KyleDadTrailerGame. Ben Roy starred in Those Who Can't on TruTV, came to Cleveland to play music and saw a fight at Now That's Class!
Happy Hour with Steve Guy
Ben Roy is s comedian, an actor, a musician, a podcaster and so much more. He joins this week's episode of Happy Hour with Steve Guy and the conversation goes all over the place. Ben lives in Denver, but previously starred in the show "Those Who Can't" on TruTV, while also still performing standup comedy. Currently he's part of two podcasts, The Grawlix Save The World and 97.9 The Rat Race, with the latter being a fun parody of morning drive time radio shows. He also reminisces about the only time he visited Cleveland to perform with his band and played Now That's Class! on Cleveland's west side, where he watched a fight and met what he finds out is one of Steve's friends!
