SWG Episode 32 - Interview with Creative Filmmaker David Markey

Sage Warrior Gentleman - Three Facets of the Modern Man

David started drawing as a kid, signing up for every class possible, and now, after playing bass in Mad Anthony among other creative endeavors, he’s a film maker who innovates, connects, sparks wonder, and solves problems. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio now living in Boston, David and I met a few years ago while doing a volunteer project for the United Way.  I got to know him as a generous, always ready to roll guy with a big heart and smile and we’ve been friends ever since. Inspired by museums, galleries, bookstores and travel, he has freelanced on Hollywood blockbusters and now works exploring VR, touchscreen kiosks, floating video, and facial recognition. Mentions in episode:Get Well, Stay Wellhttps://www.amazon.com/Get-Well-Stay-Transformational-Medicine/dp/0985271914Habits of a Happy Brainhttps://www.amazon.com/Habits-of-Happy-Brain-audiobook/dp/B074XHQHRF/ref=sr_1_2?crid=25K11140LCNVC&dchild=1&keywords=habits+of+a+happy+brain+by+loretta+graziano+breuning&qid=1600819175&s=books&sprefix=habits+of+a+ha%2Cstripbooks%2C147&sr=1-2Enjoy!Jeff

Interview with David Markey (David Snead Ukraine Missions #013)

David Snead Ukraine Missions

Today I'm interviewing David Markey. He and his wife, Deborah, are missionaries to Yamal, a peninsula in northwestern Siberia. If you're connected to Calvary Chapel and live anywhere either in the Midwest of the US or Central and Eastern Europe, the first thing you think of when you hear the name "Markey" is missions. George Markey, the first Calvary Chapel pastor in Ukraine and David Markey's dad, is one of my heroes. In this interview, David talks about his journey from being an NCAA division-one basketball player to becoming a missionary in a place whose name literally translates to "the End of the World." David and Deborah live near and serve in little towns that are best reached by snowmobile or via a "river highway." Their main ministry is church planting among indigenous peoples there, like the Nenets. If you would like to contact David and support his family and their ministry, please check out his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/david.markey.908 In this interview, we talked about a biography of David's father, George. If you would like to read more about George Markey and their amazing journey from the North American Midwest all the way to missions across the former Soviet Union, check out Jed Gourley's book, Distant Fields: https://www.amazon.com/Distant-Fields-Amazing-Farmland-Missions/dp/0990528707 David Snead Ukraine Missions is a podcast by David Snead, a missionary who serves with his wife, Katya, in Lviv, Ukraine.
