To celebrate the 60th birthday of the world’s best-selling rugby magazine, we present a very special edition of Rugby World Magazine’s 'One Game at a Time': Sir Gareth Edwards describe the Barbarians versus New Zealand game from 1973. He talks about walking to the game, the players with whom he took the field, his personal memories of each moment and of course, that try.
We looked at the youtube highlights and you can watch along too by following the link attached. What a treat it was to talk to a player, whom many regard as the greatest, about arguably the greatest game ever played.

When it comes to special effects, you need hundreds of specialist people to create them, right? Well, if you’re Gareth Edwards, all you need is your bedroom and a laptop from 2009. In one of the most inspiring “budget to magic on screen” ratios we’ve seen on YNFYF, Gareth Edwards both wrote, shot and created ALL the special effects seen in his directorial debut, Monsters. This is independent filmmaking at its most essential; most of the actors were members of the public, and the film was shot on the fly in South America. Not only that, but fast forward to present day and Gareth here directed what’s probably your favourite Star Wars in recent years, Rogue One.
In this week's episode we feature Mental Health advocate and entrepreneur, Gareth Edwards.
Gareth hit headlines last year when he flipped a 93kg tyre for 24 hours with his friend Tom for mental health awareness, and this year he's decided to make an even bigger point.
Giving A Flip is a campaign that will see him take on the tyre again, this time on his own for 60 hours in support of I Am Hope.
Born in the UK, Gareth moved to New Zealand at age 15 and soon found that the key to fitting in was through the unifying language of sport.
A passion for sport then led to a career as a personal trainer. Then as fate would have it, a boutique skincare range featuring local meaningful ingredients with the help of his friends.
Welsh actor Matthew Rhys acting career spanned the globe and he now finds himself returning to the United Kingdom for his latest endeavour in the BBC series, Death Comes to Pemberly. The actor interviews with fellow Welshman Gareth Edwards, the legendary rugby player and commentator whose 1974 Barbarians try remains one of the greatest moments in sports of all time.
Guinness World Record holder, Gareth Edwards climbed to the peak of the abyss both mentally and physically when he flipped a tyre with his mate, Tom Moore for 24-hours non-stop.
What most people focus on when someone does something mind-blowing like this is how it must feel to reach the pinnacle of excellence and the lessons and learning from pushing yourself to the edge. What everybody forgets to think about is what it’s like coming down off that peak and what awaits you when you get home.
In this episode of Please Blow My Mind with Will Fleming, Gareth talks about the hole that was left open after the Guinness World Record attempt as well as some of the feelings he has had to work through to redefine meaning post-peak.
This podcast will help you navigate your own feelings of what it means to aim for something really big and what happens when you actually make it and what to do after life returns to normal.
