Baseball and BBQ
Our Halloween episode is filled with a few tricks and plenty of treats. Ralph Carhart is the author of The Hall Ball: One Fan's Journey to Unite Cooperstown Immortals with a Single Baseball. Is there a guest better suited for a Halloween episode then someone whose book includes photos of the gravestones of Major League Baseball Hall of Fame members? Ralph tells stories of his many adventures working to have a baseball he found in Cooperstown, New York photographed with all the living Hall of Fame members and then photographed at the graves of the deceased Hall of Fame members, as well as some other places for those whose final resting places are a bit more difficult to explain. Enjoy the stories and then treat yourself by purchasing the book. Chad Ward wears so many hats, wearing each one so well, that it is difficult to try and summarize who he is in one small paragraph. Episode 8 - Chad Ward of Holodeck (aka: Hangin' With Chad)
Go Through The Door - Fearless Improv
Life is a funny old thing. In this episode, Diz catches up with a friend from High School, Chad Ward! Though they went their separate ways when they headed off to college, somehow, they both found their way into the loving arms of Improv! A writer by trade (check out his work for the "Savage Worlds" RPG system or his book, "An Edge in the Kitchen: The Ultimate Guide to Kitchen Knives"), Chad spends much of his free time on stage with his troupe "Holodeck" in Apex, North Carolina. In addition to catching up, Diz and Chad discuss Playing Smart, the difficulty of letting go of your own (obviously genius) ideas, and how NPR can get you pumped before a show. So, plug in those head phones, and Go Through The Door with us again! Chad Ward is the guy responsible for teaching me everything I know about the Traeger. He changed my life on cooking wild game after having him cook a wild hog for me in Florida several years ago. Since then we have cooked at many hunting camps together and love teaching others about it. Chad has an amazing motivation story about losing over 180lbs since we met by eating cleaner and taking some easy steps in life. He is now wanting to start compound archery.
