Beyond The Helmet

On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by 10 year Tight End in the NFL, Logan Paulsen.Logan overcame long odds as a undrafted rookie free agent. Not only did he make the Washington roster over drafted athletes and veterans, he capitalized each and every year to be a mainstay at tight end for 6 years in D.C. We talk about how he was able to find a niche on the team and prepare as a multi-faceted player. After Washington, Logan would go on to play for Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta and Houston.Paulsen felt the grind of being with 5 times in 5 years. The business side of the game took its toll on him and his family. We talk about how the decision to walk away became easier for him than it is for many. Upper Left Performance #20 Logan Paulsen - Load Management in the NFL, Coach/Athlete Relationships, Restructuring Offseason Training to Reduce Injury Risk

Upper Left Performance

Logan Paulsen is a former NFL TE who played 10 years in the league and is currently transitioning into life as a Strength Coach. He is extremely passionate about the field and listening to him discuss the delicate balance between performance staffs and the sport coaches was something I needed to hear.Logan details his S&C journey while playing football and talks about how he almost "lifted himself out of the league." We also discuss the consolidation of sport and training stressors and his opinion on load management strategies, the relationships between coaches and athletes, and why the NFL CBA was restructured last decade.I am thrilled to be getting on such a variety of individuals outside the field especially people like Logan who understand the give and take needed to achieve organizational success. It is vital to gain the perspective of those being coached and I can't wait to continue conversing with athletes and sport coaches to help S&C  better communicate their vision and tailor it to the betterment of an organization not just to their performance department.
