WATCH ▶️ Watch this video on YouTube *** EPISODE DESCRIPTION I’m excited to share with you an episode of a new podcast that I’m really excited about – it’s called Creator Debates with Justin Moore. You may or may not know that Justin and I are pretty good friends – his business is called Creator Wizard and he helps creators find & negotiate your dream sponsorships so that you stop leaving $ on the table. And he’s really, really good at that. Justin was my guest on Episode #112 of this podcast which was our first-ever VIDEO episode of this show on YouTube. He was gracious enough to be my guinea pig and I returned the favor with his new video show, Creator Debates. Creator Debates features stupid arguments to help creators make smart decisions. In this episode you’re about to hear, I debate with Joe Casabona on whether podcasters should be focused on leveraging video or not. And as someone who recently made the switch from audio only to video, I’m arguing FOR video. These guys are good friends, both members of The Lab, and this episode is a lot of fun. So, I’m sharing this episode in full with you today here on the feed. If you enjoy it, subscribe to Creator Debates in your podcast player OR, if you’d rather watch in video, the link is in the show notes. Will Podcasts FAIL Without Video? | Jay Clouse vs. Joe Casabona
Creator Debates
Check out the 30-Day Grow Your Audience Challenge: https://convertk.it/GYABig thanks to ConvertKit for sponsoring this episode!Today we’re talking about podcasts. If you’re thinking, “Podcasts?! Who the heck still listens to those? This is the age of TikTok, anything longer than 30 seconds is blasphemy. People have the attention span of Squirrels now, come on!” Well, would it surprise you that over ⅓ of Americans (that’s 104 million people) listen to podcasts regularly? You’re seeing massive companies like Spotify spending hundreds of millions of dollars to acquire upstarts like Anchor, a free podcasting platform, and Gimlet, a producer of podcasts. But the thing that kinda sucks about podcasts is it’s hard to find them (unless one of your friends tells you, “yo, you gotta check out this dope new podcast I just found all about underwater basket weaving!”) Enter: YouTube and even TikTok & Instagram Reels for that matter. You’re now seeing an explosion of podcasters starting to leverage Video. YouTube even launched a dedicated podcasts homepage recently. So I dunno about you but I’m feeling pretty confused. Now this is gonna be kinda meta because when I was figuring out how to launch this podcast that you’re listening and/or watching right now, I thought to myself, “do I really wanna complicate things by adding video? That way I can just record all the episodes in my PJs!”So, I realized I needed to call upon some experts to settle this debate once and for all. So I rang up Jay Clouse, founder of Creator Science, host of the award-winning, 1M downloads in 18 months, Creative Elements podcast. Which by the way, was recently completely reimagined as a Video Podcast. But in the other corner, we have Joe Casabona, Podcast Coach & Producer who helps podcasters become business owners at Podcast Liftoff, he creates online courses for LinkedIn Learning, and hosts a podcast called How I Built It. And Joe feels pretty strongly that video killed the podcast star.So by the end of this episode, you’ll know:1. Whether or not launching a video podcast is the right move for you as a creator2. How to speak with brands & sponsors to make more money with your Video or Audio podcast 3. #25 – Joe Casabona on Why WordPress Is a Great Choice for Your Podcast
Jukebox
So on the podcast today we have Joe Casabona. Joe is a podcaster and educator, which makes him perfect for the discussion today, ‘Why WordPress Is a Great Choice for Your Podcast’. He started his career over 20 years ago as a freelance web developer before realising his true passion, which is sharing his years of knowledge to help creators and small business owners. His goal is to help people make money with their content, which he does primarily through his podcast, and courses. We start out the podcast talking about Joe’s story; how he found WordPress and podcasting. It was not all plain sailing and Joe went through several iterations of his podcast before he began to think of it less as a hobby, and more as a useful tool for his business. The conversation then turns to the purpose of setting up a podcast. Right now podcasts appear to be all the rage. Many people create them for fun, as an outlet for their creativity, but there’s also a growing recognition that they can have purposes beyond entertainment. They could help you connect with customers or be used as a way of communicating with your team. We also cover the subject of the things that you’ll need to create a podcast, and why this list is not as daunting or expensive as you might think. You can, if you like, buy the latest and greatest equipment, but Joe is of the opinion that, whilst this is nice, it’s not essential. As this is a podcast about WordPress we make sure to discuss how WordPress and podcasting are a perfect match. Whilst many podcast hosting platforms will allow you to have a basic website, it’s likely that you’ll be able to make your podcast more effective if you are able to extend the website’s functionality. WordPress is perfect for this. There’s no restrictions on what you can do and you’re free to change anything whenever you like. So if you’re curious about how to set up a podcast, or if you’ve already got one going and just want to hear some fresh perspectives, this episode is for you.Useful links.Joe's website Podcast Liftoff
