He's highly regarded as one of the UK and Ireland's most stylish men and top lifestyle influencers. As an accomplished writer, Darren contributes regularly to titles such as Telegraph Men, Hello!, Askmen (UK and US), Attitude, Irish Tatler, and a weekly style column in the Irish Independent. As well as a seasoned style writer, Darren has also made his mark on the digital sphere maintaining a strong audience across all social media channels. Darren’s popular #SixtySecondStyle videos regularly exceed over a million views on Instagram. He is a go-to for some of the world’s most influential brands, today he talks to us about his journey, navigating the landscape, and where he is looking to take things next. We talk about how he got started, working in TV as a runner to working his way up. Now, one of the most in-demand presenters, regularly hosting events and fashion shows. We also talk about how he overcame bullies, coming to terms with his sexuality, embracing body positivity, the success of his documentary "Gay Daddy" and so much more. Disordered The Podcast Episode Five with Darren Kennedy
Disordered The Podcast
This week Ranae had the pleasure of speaking to Darren Kennedy, Irish television presenter, fashion columnist and style entrepreneur from Dublin. As a well loved personality on our screens, he exudes confidence and charisma. However, Darren recently opened up about his struggle with anorexia in his teens and early 20’s. It was a pleasure to hear him speak about this really important issue and to start opening up the conversation when it comes to men suffering with eating disorders and disordered eating.
On today’s 100th episode, I’m chatting with tv host, stylist, entrepreneur and founder of Kennedy & Co Grooming. A life in the world of media wasn’t always on the cards for this week’s guest. Being fascinated by his surroundings as a child, the tv presenter and style entrepreneur had early ambitions to work as a vet. Realising this wasn’t the path meant for him, he enrolled to study business at university and discovered the media industry during his time there. Starting out as a runner on Ireland AM, he worked hard to build up an impressive list of credentials that would eventually led him to be a part of BBC’s new make-over show, You Are What You Wear. To share the behind the scenes of his journey thus far, here’s what it’s like to be Darren Kennedy. Darren is a TV host and entrepreneur. He's someone that radiates good energy, positivity and confidence. He's exceptionally stylish, loves his dog, his cocktails and has his own male cosmetics business. In this conversation, we talked all about self-love and authentic living very much in relation to coming out and the associated challenges at a young age. We talked through this, how he navigated through them himself and all about the ultimate value one gets from persevering through these. It's a conversation I really took so much from and so I'm delighted to share it with you. From an entrepreneurial perspective, it's fascinating also to see how Darren's career essentially sings from his heart. It's very much built from a place of this self-love that we talked about and flows from there. Everything he does is so aligned with who he. This for me, is something I really appreciate and think we can all learn so much from. It's pretty much my definition of professional success. I really hope you enjoy this, please do let me know your feedback either via Instagram or my site and if you want to connect in with him from here, you can find him via https://www.instagram.com/darrenkennedyofficial/Support the show (http://www.theuniversityoflife.com)
