André Minvielle, Jimetta Rose, Simone Prattico, Basher & Other New Releases [Mondo Jazz 209-2]

A quatre ans, vos enfants rêvent de la Pat Patrouille…Lui à cet âge-là, il était plutôt branché Max Roach et Art Blakey !Comme ses héros, Simone Prattico est à son tour devenu batteur, et il a développé une approche tous terrains de la musique, collaborant aussi bien avec Hindi Zahra, qu’Ibrahim Maalouf, Eric Legnini et Piers Faccini !C’est aussi un citoyen du monde, Simone !Il a grandi à Rome, passé énormément de temps à New York depuis le début de sa carrière, et réside désormais à Paris... C’est d’ailleurs dans notre bonne vieille capitale qu’il se produit ce soir, au Duc des Lombards.Il y a trois sets, en entrée libre…A chaque fois, il jouera le répertoire de son dernier disque en date Oriundo, et peut-être même de son projet à venir…Un EP qui paraîtra à la fin de l’été, avec pleins d’invités d’Eric Legnini à Paolo Fresu, en passant par Vincent Peirani.En attendant, Simone Prattico est le premier invité de cette nouvelle semaine de Deli Express…Le voici en compagnie de Klaus Mueller au piano et Acelino de Paula à la basse acoustique.

The album is fantastically composed and played and the production is top-shelf. Simone and Jamie discuss not only this great new record, but also Simone's early years as a student of the late Robero Spizzichino, making the decision to base his career from three different countries, and how to be yourself behind the kit. Simone's playing is wonderful and his personal story is inspiring.
